My Winter Skincare/Hair Care Routine!

I consider myself fortunate that this Winter, up until now, anyway- has been fairly mild. Sure, we’ve seen a lot of snow flurries and the occasional storm pass through the Northeast, but the stuff that sticks usually melts within a couple of days- which has made driving/walking and otherwise getting around a lot easier and not nearly as chaotic as I’ve seen in Winters past.

But February can be and usually is pretty brutal here in New England. The temperatures almost always become harsher, and the deep freezes (like the one we had this past weekend- which I’ll get into a little later on this week!) keep any snow and ice around a lot longer than any of us would like- and it can and usually does dry out my skin and hair.

Luckily, I came prepared this season, arming myself as early as this past December with gently nourishing and hydrating skincare and hair products to make sure that when February arrived I wouldn’t be caught off guard since these finds/favorites would already be incorporated into my routine.

And it’s officially that time of year where I sit down and share them/where to buy each one! Before I get into the products, though- I wanted to link to some of my past collections- which I often return to depending on my skin/hair needs at any given time!

This season, I’ve been focusing on hydration and healthy balances for my skincare- opting out of gel cleansers and firming eye creams to instead focus on more moisturizing washes and cooling balms to prevent drying out and discomfort when it comes time to bundle up and brace for the outdoors. I’ve also been using a weekly hydrating mask for some extra TLC and a gentle clarifying serum to keep my pores from getting out of control since my skin can still be on the oily side sometimes- even during the Winter!

Here’s a full breakdown of the new stuff!

  • Hydrating Mask: TYNT Beauty Reveal Spa Water Gel Mask [ $28 – MORE INFO ]
  • Clarifying Serum: Earth Harbor Naturals NEBULA Adaptogen Clarity Ampoule [ $46 – MORE INFO ]
  • Daily Cleanser: Clinique All About Clean Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser [ $23.50 – MORE INFO ]
  • Cooling Eye Balm: Glow on 5thBye Bye Puffy Eyes – Cooling Eye Balm [ $24 – MORE INFO ]

For my hair this season, I’ve been using my tried and trusted styling products and leave-in treatments, but I switched out my daily in-shower conditioner for one that would lock in moisture without making my curls look/feel greasy and would keep my reds bright and vibrant.

Kelsey had recommended this conditioner ages ago since it was one of her favorites while living in the desert and it’s ridiculous hot and dry climate- and I’m happy to report it works just as well here in Massachusetts, too!

  • Daily Conditioner: Kristin Ess Hair ‘The One’ Signature Conditioner [ $24 – MORE INFO ]

And there it is! Another updated routine in the books for one of the most frigid and harshest seasons of the year. So far they’ve been working wonderfully for me- and I anticipate I’ll be sticking with them through the Spring when I gradually begin updating my rotation to coincide with the change in seasons again.

As always, if you’d like to share any of your favorite products or recommendations for this time of year, feel free to leave a comment or drop me a line!
