My Summer Makeup Routine!

Happy July, everyone! With the “Dog Days of Summer” quickly approaching and this being a short work week for me because of Independence Day, I wanted to kick off the month with my roundup of seasonal makeup favorites I’ve been using pretty much daily during the hottest, most humid and sunniest time of year here in New England.

I wanted to keep things light and simple this Summer given how much time I’ve been spending (and will likely continue to spend) outdoors at the beach, along the Coast, hiking trails, etc., since a full face of makeup will absolutely melt right off of me given the recent scorching temperatures! There’s no amount of primer or setting spray that can stop it from happening.

I’ve been wearing little more than just sunscreen as a base and a little concealer here and there since Memorial Day, but have incorporated a couple of products here and there to give me a little more color, some shine control, and a pop of vibrance around my eyes for when I finally take my sunglasses off.

As always, I’ll have some swatches at the end of the post to show what the products look like in terms of pigmentation, texture and consistency – and have linked to previous collections below for those who are curious about what I’ve worn in the past!

I had first wrote about this powder & cream blush duo from Miss Fame Beauty back in May, and it remains my must-have for the Summer season to give myself a naturally flushed, sun-kissed glow without the harmful or painful effects that can come with actually staying out in the sun for a little too long. Both formulas are super easy to blend, have buildable coverage, and are long-lasting – so despite the heat and humidity every time I step outside – they stay in place all day and well into the evening.

I apply this generously along my cheekbones, across the tip of my nose, and along my forehead and chin, and I’m obsessed with how absolutely gorgeous it makes my skin/complexion look!

And I still LOVE the cool packaging it comes in!

I have oily skin. I always have, and probably always will, but reducing shine and keeping my makeup in place has gotten significantly easier with the development of quality finishing powders. This transparent powder from Bare Minerals is one of my favorites since I can brush or press it on the areas where I’m more prone to oil buildup and then not have to worry about it for hours.

This vegan, talc-free formula blends seamlessly without any streaking or pilling while hiding pores and imperfections – making it perfect during a time of year where I’m mostly going foundation-free and loading up on SPF!

In this Summer of minimalism, I’ve significantly dialed back on my lip colors and eyeshadow palettes for the season – only using a couple of products when it comes to my pout and my lids. For a burst of sheer, subtle coral color and lots of hydration, I’ve been applying this lip oil from e.l.f. religiously throughout the day since it keeps my lips soft, super shiny and moisturized without leaving them feeling sticky or goopy.

And finally, for my eyes – the long wand and slim brush for this lengthening and volumizing mascara from Laura Geller has been a game-changer when it comes to evenly coating all of my lashes all of the way into the inner corner. A few swipes of this flake-free and smudge-proof formula every morning makes my eyes pop throughout the day, with no shadow or reapplications necessary.

I’ve worn this product all over New England throughout the past few weeks, from beach days to seafood dinners under the sun – and it’s stayed in place!

And while that just about does it for my current makeup collection for the 2024 Summer season, I promised a couple of swatches, didn’t I?

My next makeup collection post will, of course, be shared later on in the Fall – but believe me when I say I’m going to be using all of these products well into then and beyond! My complexion has been looking incredible this Summer with all of these!

See you all again later this week!
