I’m not quite sure what it is about the month of January that makes it feel like the longest month of the year. Maybe it’s because of ongoing daylight savings time, or because many of us (myself included) are still actively celebrating the holidays in the days/weeks following the ringing in of the New Year- but I only just realized this past weekend that it was coming to a close today and that the beginning of February was right around the corner!
This month has been one of the busiest I’ve had in a long time- kicked off lavishly and luxuriously with a New Year’s Eve/Day/Weekend spent in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. No sooner had I returned home to Greenfield, however- when it was time to pack a bag and head down to Maryland for a few extra days to see Andrew and the kids (and make it through the first of two major snowstorms I got to experience this month- the second of which I’ll talk about shortly!)
January saw me having so many belated-Christmas/New Years celebrations and get-togethers– including a phenomenal dinner at one of my favorite and historic attractions. There was also my own birthday celebration last weekend, commemorated with a small dinner at my mom’s house and surrounded by my immediate family.
In-between dinners and parties, I shared my Winter makeup collection for 2021/2022, played with Pantone’s Color of The Year– and talked about some of my favorite new seasonal recipes and wardrobe staples- a productive month, if I do say so myself!
And it seemed fitting to close out January the way it arrived- with another massive snowstorm that hit New England this past weekend. After things died down and some of the roads were plowed, I took the opportunity to snap some post-blizzard photos during a brief hike through Quabbin Reservoir as the sun was starting to set. Not pictured were all the deer I saw long the way!

So what do I have in store for February? Some local travel around New England, an early Mardi Gras celebration with my friends, Galentine’s/Valentine’s Day shenanigans, Super Bowl snacks and plenty of odds and ends to share and write about in-between.
So I’m raising a glass and toasting to January- a long month, for sure- but also a very fun and very exciting one. Here’s hoping February is just as action-packed and adventurous!
