A Month to Remember: September 2026

Okay, but what if I’m not ready for September to end just yet? What if we can just keep it going for another couple of weeks? Is that something we could make happen? Instead of only thirty days in the month, we could extend it to a nice, even fifty days, right? No? Then I guess this “A Month to Remember” installment will have to happen as planned, then.

I’m so excited for October, I am (truly!) because I have a lot of fun things lined up with my friends, a lot of solo-outings in and around parts of New England, and the foliage is just starting to peak here – which is something I’ve been waiting for what feels like an eternity for! – but September was just such a beautiful month filled with spontaneous adventures, wonderful memories, and small miracles that I’m simply not ready to say goodbye to it just yet!

I had started the month by getting right back into football season and beginning the early transformation of my apartment from a seaside, Summertime cottage aesthetic to a cozy little cabin as soon as the clock struck midnight on September 1st. Days later, I was making a pilgrimage out to Lexington, Massachusetts to pay my respects to this year’s famous Pumpkin Wall and stocking up on apple cider doughnuts for the start of the season, which remain one of my favorite treats to enjoy this time of year and this time of year only.

Shortly after Labor Day Weekend, my life momentarily came to a screeching halt when my baby, my miniature schnauzer – Oliver – sustained a dental/jaw and snout injury after taking a spill that required emergency surgery to correct. I was terrified, heartbroken, and so anxious for days leading up to the procedure, only to have his incredible medical team in Connecticut take such extraordinary great care of him and send him home in amazing condition. He’s since made a full recovery, and these past few weeks have been spent playing and cuddling with him non-stop.

I wrote about a coffee shop in Connecticut that helped keep me functioning while I was making back and forth trips to all of Oliver’s appointments, as well!

I attended county fairs and a seafood festival this month, visited one of my favorite greenhouses in New England during one of the rainiest days we’ve experienced in quite some time (before the recent Nor’easter, of course!) and took a long overdue, week-long “Stay-cation” where I went apple picking with my mom and my cousins, attended the Big E with my boyfriend, and went hiking on the first official day of Fall out in Ashfield, Massachusetts where I had an unobstructed view of so many gorgeous hills and trees that were just starting to transform once we’d reached the top of the trail.

That week also saw me attending a Brandon Flowers gig in Boston that I had been waiting months for – and it was such a fantastic, awe-inspiring performance! Truly unforgettable!

And now September is winding down within the next few hours, and all I can say about it is just how grateful I am for so many things. For Oliver being okay, first and foremost – but also for slow days spent with people I love, for the fun outings I got to enjoy, for the amazing seasonal food and coffee I’ve been treating myself to, and for being able to wear hoodies and light jackets again! This is the best weather we get to experience in New England!

There’s so much more to be thankful for, of course – but those are the ones on my mind right now.

Looking ahead to October, I’ve got spooky days/nights planned with my friends – including a Frankenstein-themed event within a historic town, a murder mystery dinner, plenty of trips to more potentially haunted locations (and some not-so-haunted, just-plain-cute ones!) some beloved birthdays to celebrate, and more recipes and outfits to share along the way!

So here’s to September – one of the best I’ve experienced and certainly one of my favorite months from 2026 so far – thank you for everything you provided.

And here’s to October being just as wonderful, memorable, fun and full of whimsy for all of us.

See you all again on Friday!
