I love a good rainy day, especially in the early days of Fall. It’s not the Winter type of rain that freezes you to the bone or makes dangerous patches of ice everywhere, and it’s also not the Summer type of rain that when it passes, it leaves the air heavy and sticky with humidity for hours on end. The type of rain we get in September, at least here in New England, is kind of cozy – and sets the mood for any Fall adventures you may be on when it arrives.
Case in point this past Sunday, when it began raining (eventually reaching hurricane levels, really) while I was having a little “Solo Day Out” in Rhode Island. It had started somewhat light while I was grabbing one of the new seasonal coffee drinks at Phantom Farms in Cumberland – and, side note: the maple sea salt caramel latte was kind of life-changing – but by the time I’d left the café the sky was starting to look a little intimidating.
And it was absolutely pouring out when I’d reached The Farmer’s Daughter in South Kingston. It’s been a while since I’d stopped by last November, but they’ve already decorated for the Fall with a ton of unique pumpkins, gourds, and both Autumnal and Halloween-inspired décor that was so beautifully and carefully curated.
I essentially had the place to myself, save for one or two other people who’d evidently been feeling as bold and adventurous as I had – and I managed find some great new additions for my upcoming apartment cleaning/decorating overhaul – including a big green “popcorn” pumpkin to leave at my door.
Although the sun is shining right now, it looks like there’s more rain in the forecast a little later on this week – so we’ll see where I explore next when it gets here!
