It’s hard for me, and I’m sure many other, people, too- to believe that we only have a couple of days left in the month of July and that in a matter of weeks we’ll be winding down Summer of 2021 and getting ready to head into the Fall. Autumn is my favorite time of year, of course- but still! With the amount of rain, thunderstorms, and hazy/smoky-sky-filled days we’ve had here in New England this past month- it feels like we only got a handful of days to truly celebrate the season.
That’s not to say I didn’t find ways to have fun throughout the month, though. I had a somewhat belated Fourth of July celebration in New Hampshire, with good food, a little shopping at one of my favorite beachside boutiques– and lovely views of the ocean. I had a truly terrifying drive-in movie experience at Medfield State Hospital with one of my dearest friends courtesy of Coolidge Corner Theatre, managed to beat Mystic, Connecticut traffic to enjoy a great scoop of ice cream on the water– and visited the outskirts of the Pioneer Valley for a day at the lake and pizza at a hidden gem.
On the rainy days- of which there were many throughout July- I took some time to share my Summer makeup collection, some seasonal-inspired recipes, and favorite pieces from my wardrobe/closet.
I spent cherished time with friends, family, and even some of my co-workers with my recent (part-time) return to my office this month- all while keeping a careful eye on changes throughout the pandemic and the COVID-19 variants. I’m grateful for the interactions I got to have- especially since we may go into another lockdown again now that mask mandates are being enforced again and vaccinations are becoming mandatory for many places of business.
I’m trying to stay optimistic and I’m hopeful for more sunny days in August- especially since I’m embarking on a trip to Western Texas at the end of next month (I’ll share those details in the days ahead!) I’m also hoping to cross off a few more things on my Summer 2021 bucket list over the next few weeks and get some much-needed work done around my apartment.
So here’s to July- a month that was filled with flooding, tornado warnings, and unpredictable temperatures. The weather may have been miserable, sure- but a lot of good things happened, too!
