OOTD: Festival Flair

With Boston Calling just a couple of days away, and yours truly heading there to work, mingle, dance (and eat/drink) during sets from Foo Fighters, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Alanis Morissette and Queens of the Stone Age- I’m strictly focusing on packing properly, obtaining my media pass with as little stress as possible, and setting reminders to reapply sunscreen and hydrate accordingly. What I’m not going to worry about is my wardrobe- and that’s only because I pre-planned it!

While festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo make headlines for wild celebrity and influencer fashion/costume choices (all of which look great, by the way!) I feel like Boston Calling is a bit more practical with how we dress for a 3-day, outdoor gathering- and that’s only because we know how unpredictable the weather can be in the Northeast. For example, last year’s event– which saw a shelter-in-place go into effect on the festival grounds due to an unexpected thunderstorm/torrential downpour that cleared up just as Orville Peck was taking the stage.

So this year, with high temperatures and sunshine in the forecast- I’ve opted for loose layers and light fabrics- like my stretchy, distressed denim jeans and a billowy, bell-sleeved crochet crop top that I’ve been tossing on over brightly-colored bras and bikini tops. If it gets too hot, the crochet can come off- and I just look like someone working on their tan.

And while I’ll likely be wearing sneakers or sandals this coming weekend, I thought the boots were a nice touch when I wore this out for a test run a few days ago. Throwing on some over-sized sunglasses and a hip bag to keep the essential belongings- and I’m good to go! This whole ensemble gives me Penny Lane from ‘Almost Famous’ vibes- and I’m into it!

I’ve also got a romper and a tennis dress lined up for the remainder of the festival- which I’m sure I’ll be sharing on here in the coming weeks ahead since they’re perfect for normal Summer days, too!

If you spot me at Boston Calling this weekend- please don’t hesitate to come say hello! Meeting new people is one of my favorite parts of this weekend…

… Other than the BBQ waffle cones, that is.
