You would think that with Boston Calling kicking off today that I’d have my fill of live music for the month- but that is rarely the case when it comes to me. I jump at the chance to see my favorite acts whenever they’re performing within a reasonable traveling distance (or not. I’ve definitely flown places to see shows before!) So when I got an invite to head into Boston a couple of days earlier than planned this week to see Hozier perform at a pop-up at my favorite small venue in the city- I cleared my schedule and made the short drive back out to my old stomping grounds to check it out.
I love Hozier, and the times I’ve seen him live- either at festivals or smaller venues- has always been incredible. He’s unbelievably talented, and it was no surprise the show at Paradise Rock Club sold out as soon as tickets went on sale. The capacity for the place is under 1K, which might be too-close-for-comfort for a lot of people- but everyone has a great view (provided you aren’t standing behind one of the notorious support beams.)
My friend Matt joined me for the evening and after moving around a bit to get as comfortable as we could- we parked ourselves by the merch table to watch the show which was, of course, fantastic. I think the last time I saw Hozier perform was in 2019, which may have also been the last time I visited Paradise. It’s still the venue I know, love and remember though! I have so many great memories there.

Matt took the photos above! Many thanks to him for sending them to me and for being such great company!
Hozier’s new album, ‘Unreal Unearth’ drops on August 18th. Do yourself a favor and give it a listen when it does!
And now I’m off for more live music, lots of sunscreen and some much-craved festival food.
See you all next week!
