Despite today technically being a holiday, I’m still working regular hours- which is fine considering this past weekend was extremely laid back- so I’ve had ample opportunity to get some rest and relaxation under my belt while enjoying both quiet days in with friends, and also in the comforts of my bed with a weighted, heated blanket and binge-worthy TV shows to lose myself in while I slipped in and out of sleep.
Saturday morning/afternoon was spent recording new episodes of Stef & I’s podcast at her house and audio studio, where she’d also prepared a ‘Butter Board’ with smoked salmon, brie cheese, pistachios, sourdough, etc. for our enjoyment. While everything was delicious (of course!) it was the presentation that kept me talking. Stef was determined to make everything look “Pinterest Worthy” and I think she may have surpassed any and all expectations with the finished board!
The very early hours of Sunday morning were spent driving my friend, neighbor and photographer extraordinaire Dan to the airport so he could fly to Arizona to visit his family. In his absence, prepare for any photos of me taken within the next couple of weeks to pale in comparison to the magic Dan is able to pull off with his camera and his eye for detail- although I’m looking forward to seeing what I’m sure will be stunning photos he shot in the desert over the next few days after he eventually returns home from his trip.
And then, of course- it was off to Boston on Sunday afternoon for a lunch and a gaming session with Sean & Co. (one of my favorite Winter traditions until it warms up enough where we can go hiking or to the beach again!) There is always so much laughter and silliness whenever we’re all together- which definitely helps when facing the “oh yeah, I have to work tomorrow” reality that typically hits everyone by Sunday evening/night.
And in-between all of these quiet and low-key little gatherings, I caught some fantastic movies and listened to some wonderful new albums- which I’ll be sharing during my next ‘Favorite Things’ post near the end of this week!
