I’m not being sarcastic at all when I say that no sooner did the clock strike midnight on November 1st when everything instantaneously became about all things Christmastime. My local grocery store already has all of their Holiday decorations and gift boxes on display, I’m getting advertisements for seasonal pajama sets and candy cane-scented body care- and the beloved 24/7 ‘Yule Log’ channel has made it’s triumphant return to my TV channel list (I actually love that, though! So relaxing!)
And don’t get me wrong, I love the holidays as much as the next person- and I’m excited to start decorating in the coming weeks ahead- but I’ve still got a huge bag of Halloween candy left over from the other night to get through, first!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween, by the way. I kept up with traditions- ordering a pizza and passing out candy at my mom’s house (she lives in the suburbs, and typically gets more kids stopping by than she can handle!) after checking out some of the local decoration displays and right before unwinding with an annual screening of the original ‘Halloween’ and ‘Halloween II’ movies with my dog and my Peanut Butter Cups. The undisputed must-have of all the chocolate candy!
I was relieved the weather held out for as long as it did throughout the day/night. There’s nothing worse for kids than getting soaked while you’re trying to collect candy- and it was nice to see a few familiar faces from around where I grew up, too!
And now with another Halloween in the books- I, like everyone else already has, apparently- am shifting my focus to the upcoming holiday season. I’ve got some new Fall/Winter pieces from my wardrobe to share, a few Thanksgiving-appropriate recipes- and looks into life in New England as we get ready to transition from spooky and scary into festive and freezing within the next couple of months!
