For the month of February, I had decided to be my own Valentine and treat myself to lovely solo dinners, some shopping- and a few self-care necessities that would make me feel truly pampered and at peace while I worked my way through more of the ongoing pandemic and a series of non-stop snowstorms here in New England.
So when it came time to compile and talk about my favorite things for this month- those products that had made my body care regimen feel especially decadent were right at the top of the list- along with some of my new favorite beauty tools/tricks and a couple of odds and ends that helped keep me entertained when I couldn’t shovel my way out to my car for days at a time.
The list for my February 2021 favorites is a brief one- but still a great collection nonetheless!
Let’s take a look!
When I began running out of my body wash and body lotion (a must-have for this time of year) at the beginning of the month- I went online to go see what Bath & Body Works had available for new collections/fragrances so I could replenish my stock while simultaneously trying something different.
Much to my surprise and delight- they had an entire new collection of body washes, lotions, fragrances, and lip scrubs/balms that were all inspired by various desserts- and of course they smell absolutely amazing. My two favorites are clearly strawberry pound cake and raspberry jam donut- but I’m also super tempted by their chocolate-covered cherries and coconut cream pie sets, too.
And as always, my skin and lips are left feeling squeaky clean and incredibly soft after every use. I’m also finding I get pretty hungry whenever I smell any of this stuff on me- but that’s a whole other story.
February also saw me finally embracing and nearly perfecting false lashes- specifically the mess-free, no-hassle ones from Jolie Beauty- which I wrote about a few days ago! I’ve been practicing with these- even on days where I’m not going out for anything in particular- and I keep falling more and more in love with how pretty they look and how lightweight and comfortable they feel.
I can’t wait until we can go out to concerts and festivals again- because my look is going to be completely elevated to a new level and I’m so excited for it. Can I get the vaccine now? Please?
And while those were just the products I could snap photos of- of course a few other things made my list, too!
– Movies/Music/Television –
“Framing Britney Spears” – Multiple friends had recommended this documentary to me, released on Hulu early this month- and I finally got around to watching it one night after work not too long after it had dropped.
The documentary, centered around Britney Spears’ ongoing legal battle with her father over his appointed conservatorship over her finances and assets- also explains in excruciating detail how Spears rose to fame and was subsequently dogpiled by the media and paparazzi (mostly men) from a very young age; through her relationships, marriage and the birth of her children- all the way through her brief mental health crisis, legal woes- and right up until now.
It’s a heartbreaking watch and really shines a light on how poorly female entertainers/celebrities/figures in the limelight have been consistently treated by the media over the years. It got #FreeBritney trending for days after it’s release- and I highly recommend it. It’s definitely eye-opening. So many people owe that poor woman an apology.
“I Care a Lot” – You know things are about to get crazy and downright devious when Rosamund Pike shows up on screen with that perfectly trimmed bob and sinister smile (I love her for real, though.) This was another highly anticipated watch for me- and I tuned in as soon as it showed up on my Netflix queue and was not disappointed. I know it’s divisive- with a lot of people absolutely hating the subject matter- but I watched it for pure entertainment value, with no bias going in- and I truly loved it.
Super dark but still comical at parts- this thriller was an absolute blast to watch while I was indulging in some pizza, wine and garlic bread during one of my rare nights off.
And that just about does it for February, everyone! It was a short assortment of items and miscellaneous things this month- but February is a short month anyway- so it evens out.
I’m looking forward to seeing what makes the list in March!
