I know it doesn’t feel like it given how many snowstorms we’ve been having in recent weeks here in New England- but Spring is on the way- and with it comes blooming flowers, warmer temperatures, longer days and lighter jackets. As much as I love my layers and boots, I have to admit I’m a little excited to be able to just throw on a denim jacket or a light sweatshirt and some sneakers before I head outdoors again and not have to worry about getting frostbite.
There are a couple of wardrobe favorites I’m holding onto until the very last snowflake melts before I hang them up in my closet for the change in seasons, however- and they were splurges I had made during my New Year’s Eve weekend in Newport, Rhode Island last month.
Shortly after ringing in 2021, I had been strolling Bellevue Avenue- en route to some of the Newport Mansions and Cliff Walk when I stopped at Gingy’s– a cute boutique that had some really chic sweaters and ponchos on display in their front window at the time. I decided to treat myself a little more (it didn’t take a lot of convincing, really) and do some browsing and shopping.
In no time at all- I had fallen head over heels for this fuzzy-collar-and-sleeves oversized sweater and woolen, embellished headband- the perfect combination for a Wintertime evening out or a cozy day/night in. Lately I’ve been wearing it more and more at home. You know, given the pandemic and everything.
The sweater is ridiculously soft, comfortable, and cute- and easy enough to dress up or down with some nice jewelry or shoes. Obviously, these photos were taken during a more “low-key” wear around my apartment since I had some knitted slipper socks on, instead- but I still think they bring the whole thing together, don’t you?
I’m hoping to visit Newport again once Spring arrives- and when I do- I know I’m going to stop by Gingy’s again. It’s such a great little shop with a friendly staff- and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone visiting the area! They have a little something for women everywhere!
