Oh, January- the month that starts a brand new year, features my birthday, and is most certainly the true age of Aquarius! How I love you and all the new beginnings and opportunities you seem to bring with your arrival. Even though this month is almost always cold, snowy and dark where I live- I still treasure it just the same- especially since January 2021 felt like a much-needed breath of fresh air after all that we endured throughout 2020.
Determined to start the new year (and month!) off in a truly relaxing and decadent fashion- I rang in 2021 in Newport, Rhode Island at one of the fanciest and most charming Bed & Breakfasts in town. From there, I did plenty of dining, shopping, and sight-seeing- including indulging at the oldest restaurant in the country before it was time to return home and get back to work with a newfound sense of purpose and a few new goals just waiting to be achieved.
January saw me getting out more to enjoy local attractions like my favorite pizza place or, a little further West- a fantastic museum in one of the most picturesque towns in the Berkshires- all while socially distancing and remaining safe on behalf of both others and myself.
And, while committing to my promise to be more active in 2021- I discovered some hidden and historic local gems while getting my daily dose of exercise and finding time to fit my steps into my day!
I did my usual cooking/baking (check out my FOODIE tag for more!) and showed off some Winter outfits- including my experimenting with the Pantone Colors of the Year. I also shared my current makeup routine for the season– which featured some of my absolute favorite products.
And of course- I celebrated a “pandemic birthday” (which I had narrowly missed experiencing last year right before everything shut down and came to a standstill!) and we got a new President- which was sort of the best gift of them all- apart from finally being able to return to the airwaves at Indie617 earlier this month, that is!
So what do I have planned for February 2021? Well, with it being Valentine’s Season- I wanted to share a couple of festive recipes in the month ahead- as well as a few more favorites from my closet that’ll bring out the romantic in even the most cynical of individuals.
I’m also going to be talking about a couple more local spots I love- including where to go if you’re single and want to treat yourself this Valentine’s Day!
But before I dive into that- I want both acknowledge and to tip my hat to January- which was a beautiful start to a new year and hopefully an indication of what the coming days/weeks/months ahead will be like.
