OOTD: Roaring Into Halloween…

Some of you may look at this post and say “Ashley. isn’t the point of an Outfit-Of-The-Day Post to show what the outfit looks like on you?” and yes, while that is technically accurate – the truth of the matter is that while I really wanted to share this dress I picked up for an upcoming murder mystery dinner my friend is hosting this weekend – I also didn’t want to reveal the whole ensemble I’ve put together for the character I’ve been assigned until after the event takes place and I have my hair and my accessories in place.

But this dress was simply too beautiful not to spotlight and talk about on it’s own, so here we are with some detaul shots!

My friend Alyssa is hosting a 1920s-themed mystery dinner at her home this weekend in honor of Spooky Season. Our invitations included individual cards with details about the character we’d been portraying so we could dress/act accordingly upon our arrival and with the strict orders that we do not share those details with any of the other attendees. It’s a mystery, after all.

I wanted to put together a costume that fit the description of my character (and I’ll share more photos/details next week, of course!) but I also didn’t want to spend money on something that looked or felt cheap, poorly stitched together or anything that would fall apart halfway during the night. I like to repeat costumes, after all – and Halloween is right around the corner! Give me something that lasts!

I did some digging and discovered BABEYOND – who make stunning vintage-inspired dresses, hair pieces, gloves, bags, etc. The prices are fair given the quality, and shipping is fast and easy. I could spend hours just scrolling through their evening gown selection because it’s just so pretty!

This dress gives the illusion of being sheer, but it’s covered in strategically stitched gold and jewel-toned beading and rhinestones and has just the right amount of fringe at the bottom. It zips up the back but still gives me plenty of room to breathe and move around comfortably. To say I’m obsessed is an understatement.

I’ve got gloves and quite the hair accessory picked out for this one, as well – which I’m going to snap plenty of selfies of once I’m all dolled up and ready to go – but I’m already planning to wear this one again on Halloween, maybe around the holidays because why not? – and New Year’s Eve seems like it should be 1920s themed, as well. We’ll just have to wait and see!

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
