Local Loves: Saltie Girl

Although the unofficial start to the Summer season doesn’t begin until Memorial Day Weekend (for me, anyway!) I’ve already caught myself dreaming of weekends on the Cape and day trips up to New Hampshire and Maine to spend time by the ocean. After such a dreadful Winter weather-wise, it’s what has been keeping me going through the Spring!

So this past weekend, while I was in Boston to catch the last day of the limited “Art in Bloom” exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts (and I’ll have those photos up next week since I’m still going through them!) – I opted to give into my Summer seafood cravings and grab a quick Solo-Girl Brunch at one of the cutest, beachy-themed restaurants in the city – Saltie Girl – right on the corner of Newbury Street and Dartmouth Street.

With a sister location in Los Angeles, Saltie Girl features an extensive menu of seafood options – including a raw bar, seafood towers, and shareable plates – along with some great, creative cocktails, and all amid a series of beautifully decorated, coastal-inspired rooms and an outdoor dining space that can be reserved for a number of occasions.

I had made an indoor reservation given the on/off rain that was anticipated that day, and had a nice seat in one of the smaller, more dimly lit and intimate dining areas. I sipped a “Mango Meringue” cocktail, ate a top tier cup of clam chowder to start, and topped everything off with an absolutely packed lobster roll with truffle fries – and it was all so, so good!

I also closed out the meal with a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie topped with sea salt and vanilla ice cream, but I admittedly didn’t get a good photo of that one since I started eating it almost immediately. I’m a sucker for a perfectly warmed chocolate chip cookie, after all.

The next time you’re in the city and you want a little taste of Summer before Summer actually arrives – I highly recommend stopping by Saltie Girl. I’m going to be heading back soon for some oysters soon!
