Now that we’re in the early days of May, I thought today would be as good a time as any to talk about some of the newer additions to my Springtime hair care and skincare regimen. While the products I share in these quarterly posts/updates don’t depict the full routine in detail (because if they did, I’d be repeating the same products over and over every few months!) and my morning and nighttime routines are quite lengthy, I really love highlighting and detailing the new finds and splurges that have found their way into my collection and have helped me look my best throughout a season.
For the Spring, especially this Spring in particular, it’s been all about balance for me. We’ve been working our way through frigid, rainy days and then sunny, scorching days – and the resulting allergies aren’t the only thing that have been trying to take me down. My skin was rapidly fluctuating between oily and shiny to dry and itchy with each unpredictable change in the weather – and I never knew if I needed more clarifying pads or more moisturizer as a result. Thankfully, I found some products – a few of which came at a bargain given they were from Trader Joe’s! – that have helped me walk the line between the two extremes rather flawlessly in recent weeks.
I’m going to share links to the products discussed here for anyone who might be interested in checking them out – but I’m also sharing some of the collections I’ve wrriten about in the past since I still stand by so many of those purchases!

For my skincare this season, my esthetician recommended I incorporate a calming cream cleanser into my routine to gently wash away dirt, oil and any grime in my pores without stripping my skin to the point where it was bone dry – especially on the days where it’s a little chillier or more windy than expected.
While you can order GlyMed+ products online, they’re also available in many spas and salons – and it’s nice to have someone be able to answer any questions about usage and ingredients in-person.
I also wanted to find a new lightweight serum and a heavier night cream to apply to give my other skincare products a much needed boost in benefits given how brutal the Spring can be here in the Northeast. I stumbled on these two little, affordable but highly potent miracles while shopping at Trader Joe’s earlier in the season, and I haven’t looked back since I started using them daily. T
hey are highly effective, maybe even more so than some of the more expensive “luxury” brands out there!

And in regard to me not losing my mind at how unruly my hair gets during the warmer months, I made sure to grab some preventative and healing products in advance. Those products include a pre-wash spray from AQUIS that acts as a sort of shield for my curls before I lather up with shampoo in the shower, making sure my hair gets clean but doesn’t get stripped down, damaged or that my color quality isn’t impacted as I wash it.
My stylist also recommended a healing, soothing oil via Maria Nila to drop onto onto my hairline before or after I apply styling products – especially on the colder days when I feel like my entire body is drying up. Just a few drops in the morning and then again at night, followed by a gentle scalp massage – and I am good to go! There’s no dryness, itching, frizz or flakes!
- Pre-Wash Protective Spray: AQUIS Prime Water Defense [$29 – MORE INFO]
- Daily Hair Oil: Maria Nila Head & Hair Heal Soothing Serum [$29.90 – MORE INFO]
