A big hello and warmest welcome to the month of May! I’m so excited to get started on all the fun things I have planned in the coming weeks ahead. There’s so much happening!
Now, while one of those aforementioned fun things does not include watching the Kentucky Derby tomorrow (I’ve mentioned in the past here on ‘Coffee & Chiffon’ that horse racing has never been my thing…) I’m also not one to say no to the opportunity of wearing a fun, flowy dress, putting on a crazy hat, or simply enjoying a mint julep as a “just because” occasion with my friends.
So whether you’re watching the race or simply just going out to get a bacon jam burger and a blueberry lemonade – which is what I was doing a few days ago while I was wearing this ruffled, polka-dotted maxi dress from A New Day, and looking for something to wear – I think this ensemble covers all the bases for any Spring-to-Summer events you have coming up within the next few months. Work function? Brunch with friends? Wedding? This dress is the perfect length, is super comfortable and has a nice stretch in the chest area, styles well with sandals, sneakers or heels – and looks equally cute if you’re using a denim jacket or a dressier shawl to throw on over it when the sun starts going down and there’s a chill in the air.
I chose sandals during my recent afternoon outing, and brought along my neutral-toned tote bag since I can fit my entire life into it (and the bow on it matches the dress perfectly!)
This dress gives me serious Julia Roberts in ‘Pretty Woman’ vibes – specifically the dress she wears during the Polo scene. We also both have red curly hair, so maybe I was subconsciously trying to channel that outfit/look the entire time!
