As I finish up the last of my holiday shopping (and anxiously await the arrival of things I ordered online so I can wrap and deliver them in time!) I’ve been taking a few hours here and there throughout the past couple of weeks to pick up some local odds and ends for a series of gift baskets/sets I’m putting together. One of the best things about living in the Pioneer Valley is that there’s no shortage of great small businesses, farm stands, and restaurants/bakeries that have been offering high quality items and gifts for sale this time of year.
And seeing as how so many of my family and friends are such big fans of things like candles, unique, one-of-a-kind décor, and locally-sourced food and beverages- it makes sense to treat them from fantastic spots around my neighborhood for Christmas!
I’m fortunate enough to live a short walking/cycling/driving distance from Deerfield- a town I’ve loved for as long as I can remember (even well before I moved right over the town line back in 2019!)– which means that visiting a few of their most famed and renowned businesses is incredibly easy. One business I recently stocked up from is Richardson’s Candy Kitchen– which is right down the road from the beautiful and picturesque Historic Deerfield area!
I wish I knew more about Richardson’s history, other than they’ve been around for what feels like forever- and I’ve been visiting their store every so often for years when I get a craving for chocolate truffles or am looking for a sweet gift for birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Christmastime! They make their famous fudge and ‘dixies’ (chocolate and nut clusters) fresh every morning- and they have literally every kind of candy you could ever imagine available for purchase in their cute shop/factory.

I grabbed some festively wrapped boxes of chocolate and ribbon candy for loved ones I’m seeing in the coming days- and a sugar-free chocolate & caramel bar for me (I couldn’t resist) to eat on my way back to my apartment. For the record, even their sugar-free offerings are delicious!
I’m excited to gift some of Richardson’s candies this Christmas- and I’m looking forward to my next stop at their location- which will probably be within the next couple of days since I’m addicted to their chocolate bars!
