I hope everyone who celebrated had a phenomenal Thanksgiving holiday last week! It’s nice to be back after taking a few days off from work and unplugging for a bit to enjoy great food, time with family, and getting some semi-early Christmas shopping and decorating done over the course of the long weekend. I feel very much rested, relaxed and ready to dive into the last few weeks of the holiday season and of 2022!
But I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself here (I swear I never do!) We are still in November, after all- and while I have a lovely little recap post about this month prepped for publishing in a couple of days- I wanted to take some time to talk about a few of my favorite things from these final days of Fall, first!
November’s “Favorite Things” included thoughtful gifts from friends, limited edition and seasonal finds- and surprise products that ended up being both game-changers and life-changers once I included them in my daily regimen and schedule. I also had to write about some relaxing playlists and the ending of one of my favorite shows from this past decade that came to a thrilling conclusion earlier this month among a few other odds and ends!
As always, I’ll share photos first and dive into the miscellaneous things right after- so let’s get right into it!
This leave-in detangling spray from Unite Hair Care *just* missed making it into my Fall Skincare/Hair Care Collection by mere days this month- having arrived at my door as part of a promotion set right after that post went live- but you can guarantee it’s going to make every collection and “best of” list I draft from now through the end of time.
This lightweight, clean-scented and protein-packed spray instantly detangles my curls, softens and shapes them, and keeps them safe from both heat and UV rays all day long- all without making my hair sticky, stiff or crunchy. I have noticed immediate results when integrating this product in my morning routine in regards to the overall healthiness and strength of my hair- and have already purchased/restocked additional bottles to get me through the coming Winter days- which are always the harshest on my skin, nails and curls!
We’re getting to that time of year where I prepare to due a major overhaul and refresh of my makeup collection for the Winter and New Year- and I’m happily going to be bringing this shimmery, easy to blend and super flattering blush/highlighter cream duo from Natasha Denona into 2023 with me.
The shades in this duo give me a natural, “lit from within” glow that I’ve been using all throughout November and will be utilizing for all of my upcoming Christmas pictures in the weeks ahead, as well. The texture isn’t oily/greasy and I haven’t experienced any pore/blemish issues despite the cream formula. The shades are buildable depending on if I want a “flushed from the cold” look or a more shimmery “I’m taking over this office Christmas party and you can’t stop me” vibe. It’s so pretty!
This isn’t the first time I’ve included a Tree Hut sugar scrub in a monthly “Favorite Things” post. I love the creamy texture of their exfoliators, which smooth and polish my skin without drying it out or causing any kind of irritation- and the results last for days! Their formulas also smell delicious- which is a huge plus when I’m relaxing and indulging in my shower.
When the Christmas spirit started kicking in during the week before Thanksgiving- and while I was grabbing some refills on some of my most-used makeup products and tools- I saw that Ulta had some of Tree Hut’s limited edition holiday-inspired scrubs and lotions on display. While they ALL smell incredible (of course!)– it was this rich, peppermint/vanilla combination that had me drooling in the store. I grabbed a couple to try at home- and my skin has been thanking me ever since!
This is legitimately the perfect gift to put into a bath/body care package for any special someone’s in your life!
And finally, this word prompt set from Best Self. Co. was a surprise gift from Troy that arrived at my apartment right after I’d returned home from my trip to Houston, Texas earlier this month- and was inspired by a conversation we’d had where I discussed my occasional battle with writer’s block and my efforts to overcome it. These cards, which include various topics and conversation starters- are meant to help get thoughts and words flowing when selected at random.
The cards can be used by yourself or with friends/in a group as a sort of game depending on the type of gathering you’re having. I’ve been loving them- and they’ve given me ideas for both my blog and with writing in general when I pick one or two out of the deck at any given time. This was such a thoughtful present- and would make a great gift for any writers in your lives!
That’s about it for the “Favorite Things” I could capture with my camera- but a couple of other random oddities made the list this month, too!
– Movies/Music/Television –
‘The Walking Dead’ Series Finale – I’ve been watching AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ for 12 seasons that spanned across the last decade, having tuned into the series premiere on Halloween night in 2010. I’ve been a huge fan ever since, and have enjoyed watching it every Sunday night with snacks in tow and usually at my mom’s house- where our weekly get-togethers for viewings became a tradition of sorts.
While there are spinoffs in the works (which I’ll tune into for sure!) the main show itself came to an action-packed, heartbreaking at times but ultimately happy and hopeful conclusion- and I loved every second of it. I’m going to miss the show for sure, but I’m looking forward to seeing some of the loose ends for a few of the characters that still have some story left to tell get tied up in 2023!
‘Vintage Jazz for Winter – A Playlist’ – When trying to set the mood and create a little ambiance for Thanksgiving, I didn’t want to dive headfirst into ‘Frosty The Snowman’ or ‘Carol of the Bells’ (although I’m all about listening to those now!) Instead, I chose this nearly eight-hour-long playlist by Spotify user Bellilou which includes classic jazz, big band and some Christmas songs from the 1930s into the 1950s. It’s super relaxing and calming- and doesn’t drown out any conversations or activities you’re participating in while it plays in the background.
I’m actually listening to it while I write this!
And that does it for my “Favorite Things” for November 2022! A lovely little assortment of items I’ve been cherishing and implementing into my daily life- and which I’m sure are going to remain go-to products, items and random odds & ends that I’ll appreciate well into December and 2023, too!
I’ll have an updated list/showcase a little closer to the end of next month, and I’m looking forward to seeing what festive finds make an appearance by then!
