It has been a whirlwind week in what is shaping up to be a whirlwind month for me- and although my upcoming weekend is looking to be just as action-packed as the last few days, with time spent with friends, stopping by parties, attending music shows/festivals, etc., I’m hoping I’ll be able to find some time over the next couple of days to take a breath, relax a little- and catch up on some sleep.
This past week was spent hanging out with Troy, dining out, driving around the Valley while the weather was nice and helping him pull off a surprise visit with his mom for Mother’s Day. While he was here, we hit up a couple of our usual favorites- like Antonio’s in Amherst and the Freight Yard Pub in North Adams. We know where to find the best pizza in Western Massachusetts- hands down.
It’s always so good having him home, and while I’d be sad he had to go back home after only a couple of days for an extended weekend- I’m ironing out a possible visit to Orange County next month so that he can show me around his neighborhood!
On Wednesday, a day after Troy flew back to California and after working and running a couple of errands- I headed back out to Boston to catch a set from Interpol (one of my all-time favorite bands that mean the world to me) at Roadrunner. It was an absolutely incredible show, with a setlist that featured most of the hits- and some new tracks from their upcoming album, set for release this July- and one insane light show.
I didn’t get back home until well after 2 AM, only to work the next morning at my usual time- but it was worth it- and twenty-something year old me would be impressed with my stamina!
I cannot wait to see them live again. It was breathtaking- and I may or may not have teared up during a couple of songs (I totally did. They just get to me like that!)
By next week, I should be back on my usual schedule- with work, exercising/eating normal food that isn’t tortellini-covered pizza, and with blog posting- with a full recap of this coming weekend’s shenanigans ready to go!
