I’ll Be Home For Christmas…

Happy Christmas Eve, everyone! I’m presently at the airport in Washington, D.C. and preparing for a quick flight back home to Massachusetts so I can load up my car with presents and get to delivering them to my family during dinner tonight (which is also my mother’s birthday!)

These past (almost) couple of weeks have been so fun. Spending time with Andrew and the kids, and seeing how excited they get for Christmas and the holiday-related activities/traditions almost made me feel like a kid again, too. Baking cookies, decorating a gingerbread house, looking at light displays around the neighborhood and watching classic seasonal movies with hot chocolate? We did it all in-between Andrew and I’s work schedules and the kids spending a few days here and there at day care for a few hours.

I can’t wait until they’re both a little older and are able to go sledding/tubing, ice skating, etc., etc. Every Christmas is going to be even more fun than the last.

And having them in Maryland is wonderful. While I never minded catching a five/six hour flight to Vegas at any given time, I gotta’ say that only being in the air for about an hour and twenty minutes makes visiting a lot easier to plan and coordinate! And, if I have a long weekend- it’s not too terrible a drive from where I live. They’re so much closer, not only to me but to other longtime and loved mutual family friends, too!

I’m looking forward to going back to visit again as soon as possible. I love them all dearly.

But my next trip likely won’t happen until 2022, of course- given how it’s just around the corner. I had mentioned this in my last post, but next week is all about winding down 2021 before we dive into a New Year! I have a few reflective and fun posts lined up, and I’m so excited to share them!

Until then, though- I’ve got a flight to catch- but I hope all of you who celebrate have a very merry Christmas! Enjoy yourselves and stay safe out there!
