While October is, without a doubt, my favorite month out of the year- September is definitely a close second. I mean, what’s not to love about this month? The temperatures become comfortably cool (without being too cold,) the leaves begin to change from green to bright golds, reds and oranges in a spectacular display- and it marks the return of pumpkin spice lattes, hoodies and those hauntingly beautiful and soothing Fall-inspired playlists we all like to compile every year.
Of course, this month had a few additional favorites that I wanted to share today, as well- including some seasonal accessories, home décor and a few odds and ends that have made the transition from the final days of Summer into the more crisper, breezier Autumnal afternoons we’ve been experiencing these past couple of weeks a lot more fun.
For those of you who may be new to my “Favorites” posts- I typically share the things I could snap photos of before I dive into the miscellaneous bits and pieces that I also enjoyed but couldn’t quite photograph. This also leads up to my look back and more personal, thorough review of the month that was- which will be up a little later on this week!
So without further delay, here are a few of my favorite things from September of 2021.

When I think of Fall and the patterns/prints I usually wear this time of year, plaid comes to mind almost immediately- be it in the form of jackets, flannel shirts, or comfortable pants– so when I was given this black and white plaid baseball cap from Cocus Pocus– I knew this was going to be my go-to accessory for the season. This cap matches everything in my Fall/Winter wardrobe, of course- but it’s also super comfortable and very, very cute. And I’m someone with thick, unruly hair- so if I love the way a certain hat looks- you know it’s good!

Much like my closet, my jewelry collection typically gets a makeover/upgrade this time of year, too. While I pack up my turquoise rings and bracelets or layered necklaces (some with seashell and nautical-themed charms!)– I’ve been leaning into more subtle and sophisticated pieces to dress up my everyday Fall attire. This open circle necklace and tea rose stud earrings set from Coach has been such a simple yet beautiful addition to my collection.
Not too big and flashy, but with just the right amount of sparkle to be eye-catching- I’ve been wearing this set pretty much each time I’m out and about or working at my office- and I love them!

What would a September “Favorites” post be without an appearance from any of Bath & Body Works‘ amazing Fall-inspired candles? Earlier this month, to kick off the season- Bath & Body Works had a “Buy 2 – Get 2 Free” sale on their three-wick candles, and I took the opportunity to stock up for the weeks ahead. While I grabbed some of my longtime favorites, like ‘Pumpkin Pecan Waffles’ and ‘Leaves’- I also grabbed some new additions, too- like this ‘Old Fashioned Cider Doughnut’ one.
Perfect for the early Fall days, this candle reminds me of afternoons at my local orchard when I’m enjoying hot cider and a freshly baked doughnut in-between apple picking and looking for the perfect pumpkin. I think it might be my new favorite!

And finally, having recently decorated my apartment for the season ahead- I also got the chance to take one of my favorite mugs out of storage and return it to it’s rightful place by my coffee maker. This pumpkin-shaped cup is not only adorable, but it holds sentimental value as it was a gift from one of the shops in Stockbridge, Massachusetts to commemorate my first Fall in my current apartment back in 2019. It’s been a tradition to use it throughout the season for the past couple of years- and this year is no exception.
And that just about does it for the things I was able to capture with my camera, but a couple of other things made my “Favorites” list for this month, too- and they’re coffee drinks- because of course they are!
– miscellaneous –
- Starbucks’ Apple Crisp Macchiato – I have long been on the fence when it comes to enjoying a macchiato. The first 20% of the drink, to me, is pretty torturous to get through. It isn’t until you get about halfway through it when the flavors come to life and it actually tastes good and like how it’s supposed to. I’ve tried letting it sit for a while before I begin drinking it to let everything mix/blend accordingly- but it’s rare when that works the way I hope. That was until this month, however- when Starbucks decided to make a macchiato flavor that actually tastes good from start to finish. With hints of apple, caramel and brown sugar- this has quickly become my favorite Fall drink to enjoy hot or iced- and I didn’t think that was possible!
- Starbucks’ White Pumpkin Latte – While this one isn’t on the menu, a co-worker recommended it to me when we were taking a coffee order and I happened to remark that I wanted a PSL, but a little sweeter. This version, which is easy to customize in the Starbucks app- reduces the amount of pumpkin spice pumps and substitutes them with a couple of white mocha pumps, instead. The result is a sweet, but still Autumnal concoction I’ve been enjoying regularly this month- and I recommend getting the hot version instead of iced! It’s a little more cozy that way!
And there they are- my favorites for September! A very seasonally appropriate assortment of items, if I do say so myself.
I’m sure my October collection is going to be way spookier and probably include a lot more pumpkin-flavored/infused everything, but we’ll see!
