A Few of My Favorite Things: May 2021

With Spring winding down and the first unofficial day of Summer just around the corner (Memorial Day!) along with my still being in Nevada as I write this- my favorites for May have been a small assortment of products/items that have helped me through the transitioning of the seasons and the scorching desert temperatures- be it some soothing exfoliators, some root touchup for those days my hair needs some extra attention- and a bargain palette that gives amazing color/longevity while I’m away on vacation.

My favorites for this month is indeed a small list-especially given that I’ve been on the road for quite some time- but it’s definitely a case of quality over quantity for May 2021!

Here’s what I’ve been loving.

First things first, while I may be blonde(ish) now- my roots are still dark- and every once in a while I need to touch them up for Zoom calls or in-person brunches in-between salon visits. Aerosol sprays are too messy and run down my face at the first sign of humidity- but these powders from Clairol work SO good. Lightweight and long-lasting, this root cover-up applies and blends super easy for a natural-looking finish and doesn’t budge until your next shampoo.

And with a variety of shades- it’s super easy to find the one that closest matches your hair so there’s no mortifying mistakes!

Exfoliation is key when it comes to maintaining healthy, glowing skin- and that’s not just limited to your face or legs- but your hands, as well. With all the sanitizing and hand washing we’ve been doing in this pandemic- it’s important to exfoliate dead skin cells, too- especially if you want lotions and creams to absorb better.

That’s what I’ve been doing here in Vegas this week- where the air is much dryer than what I’m used to. My hands were feeling a little beat by my third day in town- and I turned to Human+Kind and their elderflower hand scrub to tackle my cuticles while simultaneously hydrating my hands since the formula is infused with Shea butter and sunflower oil. The result is softer, smoother hands without peeling/cracking skin and healthier looking nail beds.

Also? This smells divine! That’s a huge plus for a product that is going to be on my palms for the long haul.

And finally, while picking up some last minute supplies for my trip last week- the unique packaging for this eyeshadow palette from Milani Cosmetics caught my eye and I immediately knew I had to splurge on it (not that it was much of a splurge- it was under $20!)

With 12 buttery soft, highly pigmented and long-lasting shades- the “Gilded Getaway” palette has been my go-to in Vegas and I know it’s one that I’m going to use a lot in the coming Summer days ahead!

This is the first month in a long time where I haven’t had any odds and ends to add into the list- but I’m sure that’ll change by June once I’m back home and enjoying more than one beach day!
