It’s been a while since I’ve ventured out onto the Mohawk Trail and The Berkshires- months, really- which is actually a bit crazy because it’s one of the most beautiful and peaceful parts of Massachusetts. My previous schedule made it a little difficult to find the time or occasion- but now that I’m spending pretty much all of my days here in the Valley- it’s been easier to find my way out into the middle of nowhere when I’m in need of some fresh air while still managing to avoid crowds.
This past weekend, despite the rain and the cold (the last remnants of Winter)– I bundled up and headed out to the trail to walk along a river, hike some inclines, and take in scenery that went far beyond the walls and windows of my loft apartment.
I was the only one there for the longest time, which was pretty nice, too- because it made the whole experience less stressful since I didn’t have to worry about social distancing all that much.
I only took a couple of photos to preserve my phone’s battery (the area is mostly a dead zone, and I like to have a full charge when I’m out there by myself in the case of an emergency)– but I’d like to think they give a little peek into a beautiful area I’m determined to spend more time in.
I spotted quite a few interesting (and abandoned!) places on my way to/from the trail, too- so I’m thinking I’ll be photographing those soon. And of course I’m keeping an eye out for any blossoming trees and flowers on my travels, as well. I always love catching the first signs of Spring- which should be showing itself any day now.
