For this latest installment of “Local Loves”, I’ve got another Vermont-based bookstore, this time in Woodstock, Vermont – which is where Troy and I headed for his birthday earlier this week for a little road trip and a day of shopping, strolling, eating and reading – and this is honestly one of the best times to visit since the entire town is starting to transition into Christmastime (but there’s still plenty of lingering Autumnal charm around, too!)
One of our “must visit” stops is Yankee Bookshop on Central Street. First opened in 1935, this cozy bookstore might look tiny from the sidewalk – but it’s packed with so many new releases and classics that cover all genres and interests. They also have a great selection of arts & crafts supplies/tutorials and an adorable children’s nook for young readers. I find something and/or am completely inspired each time I stop by. I’ve already started a mental list of holiday gifts to pick up there within the next few weeks since I am absolutely planning on going back for another hit of holiday charm.
It’s one of our favorite spots in Woodstock, and Troy was on a mission to find a very specific book when we popped in after lunch down the street. The staff, who are always so kind, friendly and helpful were quick to locate it for him – which only added to the success of his birthday. He got everything he asked for!
The shop also hosts some great events, too – like Q&As with visiting authors, book fairs, etc. You can check their upcoming activities and new releases on their website, which is updated regularly and incredibly easy to navigate!
I’m very much looking forward to visiting again soon, but I highly recommend not only traveling to Woodstock ASAP if you haven’t done so already, but poking your head into Yankee Bookshop while you’re there. I can promise you that you’ll find something you’ll love!
Next week, I’ll have a full recap of the birthday trip up on the blog. I’m also planning on sharing a quick look into my closet and a super cute Thanksgiving appetizer recipe that is almost too adorable to eat. Almost.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
