Local Loves: Añejo Hyannis

With my extended weekend away with my girlfriends having just wrapped up, and with my also taking today off from work to recover from our adventures (which I’ll share a little later on this week after I finish going through all of my photos!) I’m spending the next few hours unpacking, doing laundry, reorganizing and indulging in some much needed post-beach & boating days skincare. What a wonderful time we all had – and what amazing food we all ate throughout our stay in and around the Cape!

One restaurant in particular, which we had stopped by on our very first night together while shopping and drinking around Hyannis, was Añejo Mexican Bistro – and while there are a couple of other locations around the Cape Cod area, the one in Hyannis is by far the best since the restaurant’s primary seating is nestled under a huge and historic beech tree that offers plenty of shade and a perfect backdrop for photos with your loved ones.

Añejo’s menu features fantastic margaritas, cocktails and wine (the raspberry coconut margarita was my favorite!) and generously portioned enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas and so much more. My friends and I enjoyed sharing the ‘Mango Habanero Bang Bang Shrimp’ and warmed chips and salsa together while I all but inhaled a birria quesadilla as my main entrée. Everything was prepared fresh and tasted incredible.

My only regret was not ordering another quesadilla to enjoy later that night once we were back at our cottage we were staying in and having a few drinks on the back porch.

While I can’t speak for the locations in Falmouth and Plymouth, the Hyannis Añejo location doesn’t accept reservations – so it’s really a first come, first serve kind of place. We showed up just before 5PM on a weeknight and were able to get a table to accommodate all of us right away, so I’d say that may be your best bet for a night out. Friday nights and weekends typically have quite a long wait time – but it’s definitely worth it if you have your heart set on dining there.

I’m hoping to head back sometime soon – maybe before the season ends! – to try out more of the menu and maybe sip on another margarita. I’m still thinking about how refreshing it was!
