In all my travels in and around Massachusetts this past week or so with Troy, and as I come out of the other side of what I call my “Seasonal/Spring Cleaning Cold” that has resulted in a couple days’ worth of congestion and coughing, I’m still making sure to take time to pause and appreciate beautiful places and moments for my own sanity – especially since Spring is in the air a little more often these days.
For example, this past Wednesday afternoon while out in the Berkshires, we made a stop at the Berkshire Botanical Garden in Stockbridge, Massachusetts to check out their annual bulb show and flower display within the lovely little Fitzpatrick Greenhouse!
I hadn’t been to this greenhouse since 2022, but this year felt like they had so many more flowers, plants and cacti to admire than I’d remember seeing during my last visit. Every inch of the greenhouse was covered with beautiful colors and greenery, and we got to see not only bees at work during our stay – but curious little chipmunks that had come in to check things out scurrying around, too.
I’ve mentioned before on ‘Coffee & Chiffon‘ that while other bulb/floral shows that pop up this time of year, while beautiful, aren’t always free to the public and can attract large crowds that make it hard to really enjoy everything at your own pace depending on the day/time you go – but the show at Berkshire Botanical Garden, although a bit smaller in scale, is always 100% free and isn’t nearly as busy at any given time.
Troy and I were able to walk through for as long as we wanted and see everything up close!
The Bulb Show is running now through March 20th, and if you find yourself in Stockbridge (which I hope you do. It’s one of my favorite places!) you should definitely swing by. These events are always an indicator that warmer and sunnier days are on the horizon – and that in itself has me feeling more cheerful despite a stuffy nose!
I’ll be back next week with more adventures around New England, another look into my closet now that I don’t have to wear a heavy jacket so frequently, and maybe – just maybe, depending on my schedule – another Springtime recipe to share!
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
