Now that February is officially underway, I’m all about Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day plans and preparations. I’ve picked up the perfect card for my boyfriend, am putting the finishing touches on a couple of very cute outfits, and am getting ready for some wine and charcuterie at a vineyard outing I have planned within the next couple of weeks. It’s all been a lovely and festive distraction from the current cold snap we’re battling here in New England.
So this past weekend, while in Boston for a day trip, I wanted to grab some chocolate gifts for my girlfriends and my mom – all of whom I celebrate for Galentine’s Day – and headed over to Clarendon Street for a quick stop at L.A. Burdick Chocolates to stock up on presents in advance!
L.A. Burdick have a few locations in places like NYC, Chicago, and D.C. – but the majority of their shops are located right here in Massachusetts. They’re famous for their chocolate mice and penguins, but also have an impressive assortment of drinking chocolates and some beautifully decorated gift boxes around various holidays, as well. Right now, they have a spectacular Lunar New Year display and, of course, one for Valentine’s Day!
I scooped up a couple of boxes of assorted chocolates that were wrapped up beautifully for me before making my way to the bustling café near the back of the shop – where you can buy your own hot chocolate and try out a pastry or piece of cake. I had a small dark chocolate beverage, which was decadent and divine – and a pear and hazelnut mousse that was incredibly rich and flavorful.
Given how busy the shop and café were, though – to the point where there was no available seating for indoor dining – I had to take them to go to enjoy on the road. If you’re going to check out L.A Burdick for yourself, I highly recommend visiting on a weekday when it’s not nearly as crowded! There’s a lot to see, enjoy, and taste – and you’ll be able to take your time when there isn’t a rush!
And, of course, you can browse and purchase any of their selections online, too – but I love their Back Bay location and try to visit when I can!
