Car Picnics, Rasslin’ and Wine Tasting…

In-between working my full-time job, preparing for my radio show this coming Thursday night and keeping up with meetings and appointments, I’ve also been trying to pack my weekender bag for a “Girls Getaway” that’s kicking off Friday morning and going strong until next Monday – and spending my free time traveling to visit with friends, eat great food, and pick out perfect presents!

I had said August was going to be a busy month, and I wasn’t kidding!

Last week during a particularly rainy afternoon, Dan and I had traveled out to Great Barrington to meet up with his family for a quick lunch at The Bistro Box and some shopping in nearby Lee. The torrential downpours made it impossible to sit comfortably at a picnic table (even with an umbrella!) and we opted to enjoy our Box Burgers and truffle fries in the comfort of the car, instead. Everything was still delicious – and that’s the important thing!

Best of all? The weather meant there were no crazy lines to wait in to get our food! Stormy and rainy days are where it’s at!

On Saturday night, it was back to Salem to check out my friend Phill’s gorgeous (and potentially haunted) new apartment and serve up some lemon and orange possets as our group of friends celebrated our annual viewing of WWE’s SummerSlam (one of my favorite August traditions!)

Everyone brought their A-Game for our Snack-Down competition, and although I lost my title to some seriously tasty franks and beans, I went home full, happy, and having witnessed the funniest Seth Rollins comeback of all time.

Bring on the Royal Rumble next year!

And finally, on Sunday I headed back towards my beloved Newport, Rhode Island to stop at the Newport Vineyards for some shopping and supplies since I’m putting together gift baskets for the girls for our trip this weekend. While there, I grabbed a couple of bottles of some of my favorite white wine and rosé (which I’ll talk a little more about later on this month!)

The winery is beautiful, and I’d really love to go back at some point in the Fall to take a formal tour, and try their cider and seasonal menu when I have more time. The restaurant looked lovely as I was walking by!

Before I head out in the next couple of days, I’m going to be sharing some of the skin and hair products that I’ve been worshipping over these past few weeks of heat and humidity. Be sure to check it out if you’ve also got curly, unruly hair!
