My Summer Skincare/Hair Care Routine!

At the time this post goes live, I’ll be embarking on a mini road trip to Cape Cod for a long weekend at the beach with my girlfriends for our annual Summertime getaway! Last year, given everyone’s ever-changing schedules and responsibilities, we took a day trip to go sailing in Ogunquit in Maine. As much fun as it was – it just didn’t feel like a long enough time away to truly relax and unwind.

I’m happy to report that this year, however – the stars aligned and we were all able to make this upcoming weekend work without any delays or postponements! I’m looking forward to sharing photos and a full recap when I get back in a few days.

Before that, I thought today would be a good time as any to talk about the skincare and hair care I’ve incorporated into my daily/weekly routines this time of year. Summertime in New England, while beautiful for sure – can also be unforgiving on those of us with wild hair and combination to oily skin. Without the proper products on hand, I’m usually left fighting for my life while also fighting off humidity.

So the new additions this season are all about replenishing, protecting, and smoothing out my skin and my curls. I’ve included links to the products below for easy browsing – and am linking to past collections, too!

I can always count on Trader Joe’s to provide high quality dupes to cult favorite products that are (typically) astronomically priced so that when I’m stopping to buy snacks for the week, I can also stock up on creams and serums that I know are going to give me fantastic results.

For example, the daily sunscreen I’ve been applying every morning is right up there with the famous SuperGoop! version. And at night, I like to reset my skin with a deeply hydrating watermelon overnight mask that is on par with the one from Glow Recipe.

For my hair care this season, I turned to the brand Mielle to save both my scalp and my hair from the sun, from dips in local lakes, pools and in the ocean, and from any residual damage/overall ickiness when I occasionally wear a baseball cap out and about.

The two products highlighted below are especially nice this time of year since the mint is super cooling and refreshing – and my curls have been looking more soft and defined with every use!

Finally, I wanted to include a couple of my body care selections for the season because I cannot get through the Summer without a fresh-scented body scrub and a deeply hydrating body butter. I just can’t! I like my skin to look smooth and soft since I’m always wearing shorts and sundresses throughout this time of year, and I refuse to let my skin feel patchy or rough.

While I use the body butter every day, I reduce the scrub use to a couple of times per week to avoid too much abrasion on my body – and the results have been great so far!

And that just about does it for this season’s new additions! As always, if you’d like to share your own Summertime collections or if you’d like to offer up some recommendations for products to check out for when we begin to transition into the Fall – feel free to drop me a line or leave a comment!

I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead – and I’ll catch you all when I’m back next week!
