Give ’em Shell…

One of the most exhilarating parts of the (almost!) Summer season has been looking at my calendar and seeing how many things I’ve got planned over not just the next few weeks, but throughout the next couple of months, as well. Between day trips out to Boston, long weekends on the Cape and in Maine, and more local and laid-back cookouts and lake-lounges filling up my schedule – I feel like I’ve been going non-stop in all the best ways – and it only energizes me more!

And even my “down time” is productive and plan-filled! I had mentioned earlier this week that I had recently visited GOMBO in Northampton with Dan so that he could do some photography work highlighting their new seasonal menu and specials. I’d tagged along after our stop at the Marina to observe and assist (if needed!)

What I hadn’t counted on was the staff so generously allowing the both of us to taste the new menu offerings, as well. While I sucked back plenty of oysters and crab croquettes, I also got to try a delicious salad topped with burrata and prosciutto, and perfectly cooked blackened salmon.

Dan took the best pictures, of course – but I snapped a few myself throughout the night. Have I mentioned he has the best job ever?

And I finally got my first lobster roll of the season! This past weekend – as is tradition on Father’s Day – my mother, Oliver and I set out on a day road trip to grab some food, take in the scenery of whatever destination we ended up at, and listen to some music while we reminisced about my dad.

We ended up at Lobster Landing in Connecticut, where we split what I believe to be one of the best lobster rolls in New England. It’s been a couple of years since I’d stopped by, but they’ve since repainted the outside to make it look a little less “worn down”, although I sort of preferred the more weathered, aged look of the exterior of their building. It added a bit more character!

It’s been a pretty great (and tasty!) past few days – with even more on the horizon. Later on today, I’ll be heading out to Salem, Massachusetts for a “Summer-Ween” inspired day on the town as part of a collaboration with a fun and local business, which I’ll be talking about more at length a little later on this week and into next week. I’m so beyond excited to share!

’til then!
