It’s been a few years since I’ve had a take-down, cancel all plans, stay-in-bed-all-day type of cold that results in me calling out of work and leaving both my text messages and e-mails on “unread” for any significant amount of time – but here we are! I’m finally on the other side of what was a nasty and relentless cold/flu that left me congested, exhausted, and with the nastiest cough that only very recently started to sound and feel less harsh. Now here’s hoping I can still salvage some of my upcoming holiday plans!
Prior to me coming down with the plague, I managed to have some festive fun. On Friday night, my friend Stef and I traveled down to Providence, Rhode Island to check out the annual holiday lights display at Roger Williams Zoo. I had last been to the event in 2021 where I’d had a spectacular time despite the pandemic still being an ongoing thing – so I was really looking forward to seeing what they’d done this year without having to socially distance.
The over-the-top display was just as impressive as ever, with a new 12-Days-of-Christmas section and a beautiful blue and white-themed walkway along the water that Stef and I ended up going through a second time to see if again. Along the way we even got to see some bald eagles and little deer who were still hanging out in their enclosures. It was wonderful!
Then on Saturday morning, my mom and I headed out to Stockbridge, Massachusetts to decorate gingerbread houses at The Red Lion Inn! We were sat at a table with a lovely group of women who were visiting from New York, and were each provided with our own little house to decorate using a variety of candies and treats that were placed at the center of each table. There was also a selection of coffee, tea, and wine to enjoy while we worked on our houses for a little over an hour.
It was so much fun, and I was really quite pleased with how my house turned out (my mom’s wasn’t half bad, either!) Afterwards, we grabbed lunch at 51 Park before running a couple of errands and heading back to her house for some cocoa and Christmas movies!
This coming Friday, I’ve got another cute and seasonally-inspired outfit post to share before I wind down the month of December (and 2025!) within the next couple of weeks here on ‘Coffee & Chiffon‘!
I’m so excited (and not so stuffed up anymore!)
