Local Loves: Green Haus Café

Between the recent periods of torrential rain/flooding, snow squalls, and then sporadic bursts of sunshine and high temperatures (AKA January in New England, everyone!) it’s nice to just escape the outdoors- even for an hour or two- and cozy up somewhere warm and filled with both greenery and caffeine. Thankfully, Green Haus Café – located in Mission Hill in Boston – has me covered.

Friends had told me about Green Haus before I’d stopped in to visit it for the first time this past weekend, raving about not only their picturesque plant displays around the shop and above the bar seating area- but also about how good their coffee/tea and food selections were. Knowing I had a couple of errands to run in Boston, I made it a point to stop by to both see and try it out for myself.

Located on Tremont Street, the café is beautifully lit, filled with a wide array of plants like ferns, succulents and cacti (that are available for purchase!) has an unbelievably friendly staff – and offers all sorts of breakfast/lunch sandwiches, pastries and beverages. I grabbed an iced pistachio latte and an avocado tartine and was fortunate enough to find a table despite how busy and bustling it was at times!

And my friends weren’t wrong when they said everything there tastes fantastic. My meal was light (but still satisfying! The perfect mid-morning treat!) and full of flavor. When I was done eating, I freed up my table for some guests who had just arrived and were looking for seating before I took a look at some of the plants around the café and grabbed a couple of banana nut muffins to-go so I could take them with me to work later on this week.

I’ll definitely be revisiting Green Haus the next time I’m passing through Boston. It’s the perfect little “Spring Spot” tucked away within the city, and there’s lots of other things on their menu that I really want to try!
