It’s not very often that I return from out-of-state only to turn right back around and head back to where I’d just come from- but this past weekend saw me heading out to Syracuse, New York just a few short days after I’d come back home from Schenectady, New York. The trips were so close together, in fact- that I didn’t bother fully unpacking my suitcase before I was back on the road again!
This most recent trip was to celebrate a wedding on the grounds of the 1911 Established Distillery– which was a stunning venue that overlooked rolling hills, endless apple trees and plenty of just-starting-to-change-color Fall foliage. The ceremony and reception both took place outdoors- which meant that we were treated to the breathtaking scenery and an even more spectacular sunset as the night went on.
Kyle and Amanda, the happy couple- had their special day catered by Toss ‘N Fire Pizza– who arrived in their truck with a wide array of both classic and unique wood-fired pizzas. I was a big fan of the pickle pizza- and definitely grabbed more than one slice throughout the night. They also had a live band who were so energetic and so fun and truly went above and beyond to make the evening special for everyone.
The ceremony also provided one of two honorary birthday tributes to my friend Dan’s grandmother- Joan- who turns 90 this week! The second celebration came the following day where we all gathered for a birthday brunch together at the rental some of Dan’s family (including Joan!) had been staying at for an extended weekend. It was such a wonderful morning/afternoon, and I was honored to have been included in the festivities. Everyone was so unbelievably kind and welcoming to me and I truly enjoyed and appreciated the time I got to spend with Dan’s family.
Although I don’t have any more trips to New York planned for the remainder of the Fall- I do have some more potential travel before Halloween coming up- my schedule and weather permitting! I hope to have those stories to share really soon!
