A Few of My Favorite Things: February 2022

As we inch our way closer to Daylight Savings Time and the first day of Spring (although it doesn’t feel like it’s any closer given the blizzard currently happening outside my window as I write this!)– I wanted to take some time to talk about a few of my favorite products, buys and finds from these past few weeks. February was and is always a month centered around all things love and romance, of course- but I find it’s about treating oneself, too!

And I most certainly treated myself this month- with surprisingly effective and sparkly skincare, to a palette of nail polishes that are perfect for the upcoming Spring season- all the way to a smoothie/shake-maker that is straight out of my 1990s Trapper Keeper memories!

There’s a few other things I loved this month, as well- and I’ll get into that momentarily- but here’s a look at some of my favorite things from February 2022!

I am quickly becoming a fan of all things Truly Beauty– not only because their packaging and product names are bright and fun- but because everything I’ve tried has worked out for me and my complexion/skin really, really well! So, during a recent stop at Ulta, and when I saw this bright red (with glitter and confetti hearts mixed in- perfect for Valentine’s Day!) face mask- I knew I had to give it a try.

The “Dew You Love Me?” mask is loaded with retinol and Vitamin C- and after only a couple of weekly uses- I noticed a significant difference in my skin’s texture and brightness- which is always a struggle for me during the colder Winter months here in New England.

Don’t let the glitter or the confetti scare you- this mask is easy to apply and rinses clean. There’s no mess involved and the results have been phenomenal so far!

I’ve been making an active effort to keep my nails looking nice this year. As someone who used to love and look forward to my bi-weekly manicures pre-pandemic, I had to learn how to give myself a quality nail trim/paint job back when everything was closed indefinitely- and even now that salons and spas are opened back up- I still find that I rather enjoy doing my own nails these days.

So when it came time to pick up some shades for the Spring- I knew I had to stop by Nordstrom to grab this mini pastel set from deborah lippman. This 6-piece limited edition collection, called “LOVE WINS”, features lovely and light neutral shades ranging from grey to ballerina pink. The formulas are long-lasting like a gel polish, but free of harmful chemicals and dangerous fumes. I’ve been loving the longevity and pigment of the shades- which I switch up every few days!

Of course, with my nails looking as good as they have been- I want to make sure I’m keeping them hydrated and clean, too. I’ve been obsessing over this hand soap and lotion sink-side duo from Brompton & Langley I was gifted earlier this year. While these formulas do, in fact, smell like Prosecco- there’s also something almost sweet and sugary in the fragrance, too! They don’t smell like straight-up alcohol- which is nice.

I love reaching for these when I’m in and around my kitchen. The soap doesn’t dry out my hands at all- and the lotion isn’t too heavy or greasy once you rub it in. They’re both lovely!

And finally, while on my quest to live a healthier and fitter 2022- I’ve been in the market for a small and potentially portable blender that I could bring with me to work, or the gym, or even just to avoid taking up a ton of counter space in my apartment. I was pointed in the direction of BlendJet and, specifically- their limited edition Lisa Frank collection of small, 16-ounce portable blenders that can be charged via USB and cleaned with just a little soap and water after each use.

The super fun, nostalgic look of my blender aside- this thing packs a punch! I’ve been able to whip up incredible smoothies and frappes (on my cheat days, of course) in seconds- with no complex cleaning or disassembly involved after the fact.

Lately I’ve been savoring a peanut butter, almond milk and banana smoothie- and I’m excited to share more of those recipes here on the blog for the Spring and Summer!

And that just about does it for the photogenic finds this month- but a couple of other things have made this installment, too!

– Music/Movies/Television –

  • “Inventing Anna” – There is something so fascinating and compelling (and definitely cringe-worthy) about the Anna Delvey/Anna Sorokin story. How a girl with no confirmed connections and who seemingly sprung up out of nowhere managed to lie, con and scheme her way into high society and steal from trust fund-lined pockets without anyone asking questions for as long as she did is something worthy of a movie in itself. Thankfully, Shonda Rhimes gave us a limited series on Netflix, instead- and it was such a bizarre but fun watch to binge this past month.
  • White Lies – “As I Try Not To Fall Apart” – February saw the release of the highly anticipated new album from White Lies, too- and having given it plenty of start-to-finish listens in the past week or so, I can say with sincerity that it might be one of my favorite albums of the year so far (I know we’re still pretty early!) The last time I saw White Lies live was with Kelsey in San Diego back in 2019 during one of our Nevada-to-San Diego girls trips- so the album is especially poignant and meaningful to me this month- and I know she would have loved it if she was here.

And with that- my February 2022 Favorites is complete- and I’ll have a bunch of new products and buys to talk about by the end of March!

If you’d like to share some of your own favorite things from this month, feel free to drop me a line!
