OOTD: Wild Wild West

Even I have to admit that I do find it a little amusing that I officially kicked off my vacation this past weekend by riding out an unpredictable hurricane/tropical storm from home- it’s pretty much on brand for me and the timing of my life, really- but this morning I’m hopefully going to be boarding a flight on time and without any delays/cancellations given the weather for a scheduled week away spent between Austin and Marfa, Texas.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Texas. My last trip there, many years ago, was to San Antonio and for my friends’ wedding- and while my wardrobe for that occasion was undoubtedly dressy and formal- this trip to a tiny desert down calls for something a little more casual, comfortable and laid-back.

A look into my suitcase this time around will reveal a lot of denim shorts, a lot of graphic tees- and a couple of sundresses (it is the desert, after all)– but I made sure to pack a good cardigan for when the temperatures inevitably drop at night, and I invested in a good pair of suede boots since I’m going to be doing a bit of exploring in-between GLAMping and indulging at the local eateries and local hangout spots.

This lightweight knit sweater by corinne gives me some serious Southwestern vibes- and the pale shades throughout matches pretty much everything I packed for the trip. I can throw this on when the sun sets and there’s a chill in the air, or cover up a bit when I’m out for dinner. And these charcoal booties from Rocket Dog are super comfortable- and affordable- and give me a little height boost with their small and subtle heel. I’m looking forward to wearing these with my shorts, my dresses, etc.

The hat in these photos, of course- is an old favorite of mine I like to break out every Summer for beach days, brunches by the lake, and day trips to my usual stops in my favorite New England coastal communities. It’s made a few appearances in past OOTD posts.

I’m sure I’ll be doing a little shopping while I’m in Texas, and I’ll be showing my finds in future style posts once I’m back on the East Coast and settled into my usual routine. I already know of a few boutiques and specialty stores I’m excited to visit in the days ahead.

And I’ll still be blogging from the comfort of my rented camper and the occasional hotel room- so be prepared for a LOT of pictures on here and on my social media- specifically MY INSTAGRAM. Feel free to follow along!

See you all again soon!
