One of my favorite things about living in New England is having different seasons (although I’ve never really made an earnest attempt to hide my hatred for the Winter- but it’s only because I really dislike being uncomfortably cold and shoveling snow) and I tend to fully commit to celebrating each one- be it with my recipes in the kitchen, like pumpkin-flavored anything in the Fall and banana/coconut/kiwi-infused desserts in the Summer- or with my home decor and my wardrobe/accessories.
In the Spring my closet is all sorts of floral prints and pastels- but once Summer arrives I go from looking like a fairy tale woodland princess to diving right into comfortable surfer chic style and bold tropical-inspired pieces.
This bright chiffon layered tropical dress by Bongo is one of the oldest in my collection. I’ve had it for years and wear it at least a few times every Summer- usually at block parties or dressier occasions during the season. It’s loose-fitting but flattering, with spaghetti straps and a hem that hits just above the knee.
I often wear this one with sandals, or when I’m feeling particularly flashy- a bright pair of bright red Steve Madden heels I’ve owned for probably as long as I’ve had this dress- and I always accessorize with a big tropical flower in my hair (I’ll be sharing more of those as the season goes on. I’ve got tons of them!)
And a classic red lip and over-sized sunglasses are always in style- no matter what season it is.
This dress was definitely my go-to as the Fourth of July weekend winded down- but I never keep it too far from reach during the Summer. It’s a favorite of mine for good reason!
