My Summer Makeup Routine!

There’s nothing quite having a Friday off in the Summertime, and there’s nothing quite like having a Friday off right before the 4th of July weekend here in New England! While the next couple of days are going to be filled with fireworks, s’mores and applying plenty of sunscreen while I’m out and about, I thought I’d take some time this morning (before the temperatures start soaring again!) to share the latest additions to my current makeup collection.

I’m still obsessing over and religiously using things like my blush/highlighter and beachy/metallic eyeshadow palette I had last shared in my Spring collection, so a complete overhaul of products wasn’t necessary this time around – but I did find a couple of ways to incorporate one of my favorite seasonal colors into the mix and my makeup bag this year!

As is tradition with these posts, I’m going to share some swatches of what I’m talking about today, and will include links to where you can purchase the products for yourself if you feel so inclined. I’m also linking to past collections from over the years, since it’s kind of fun to see what trends I was previously into, and what products I’m still using to this day!

Let’s get right into it!

When it’s hot and humid and literally everything is melting off my face, I count on long-lasting lip stains and glosses to get me through beach days and backyard barbecues with just a little bit of flattering color, and I absolutely love anything and everything coral-colored this time of year since it compliments my skin tone and most of what’s in my wardrobe during the season.

This Summer, I turned to a couple of Sephora brand products to get the job done. The first is this Sheer Shine Lipstick in the shade “Radiant Flame”. With a shiny finish and hydrating formula, this is usually my go-to during the day when I’m at work, running errands, out with friends/family, etc. The color is super subtle but buildable – and it lasts much longer than you’d think given it’s glossy texture!

When I need something a little more pigmented, a little more matte, and something that lasts a little longer, I turn to this Sephora Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Acid Coral”. Don’t let the name fool you – it’s not at all harsh, and is actually very flattering. I like to dab a little bit of clear gloss over this one after applying it to make my lips look hydrated and a little softer, but I’ve worn it all on it’s own, too.

And finally, I’m not opposed to bright pinks/purples this time of year, either! Given that I loved my neutral-toned WONDERSKIN lip stain when I traveled to Italy last year, I thought I’d scoop up another one in a brighter and more daring shade. This color, “Sweetheart” is a really pretty raspberry hue that I like to put on in the mornings on days when I know I’m going to be too busy for frequent reapplications since I know it won’t budge for hours.

Although I’ve been having fun using sparkly blues and pinks on my lids since this past Spring, I also wanted to infuse a little coral around my eye area, too. I again turned to Sephora and their adorable, pocket-sized “Mini Mix” shadow palettes to give me a semi-tropical boost. This palette, “Peach Power” includes two buttery soft, easy-to-blend matte shades and a striking seashell-colored metallic that I love tapping onto the inner corner of my eyes to get them to pop a little more.

It definitely comes in handy on the “no makeup” days I like to have during the hotter months. I’m obsessed with it right now, really!

As promised, I’ve swatched everything shown here to give everyone a better idea of tone/pigmentation – and I swiped each of these about 1-2 times before snapping the photo. Check it out!

If anyone would like to share their own Summertime makeup products they’ve been loving and swear by, especially in hot and humid conditions, feel free to drop me a line or reach out! I love trying out new colors/finishes and am always on the lookout for the next product to add to my collection!

Here’s wishing you all a wonderful, fun and safe Fourth of July Weekend ahead. I hope it’s filled with sunshine, maybe a little ocean air, and some truly great food! I’ll be back again on Monday with another Summertime dessert recipe and a look back on my own celebrations for the holiday.

See you all then!
