Berries, Boats and Book Clubs…

It’s been quite a busy few days since returning home to New England last week. Other than working my full-time job and putting together my radio show for tomorrow night after a week off-air since I was out of state, I’ve also been trying to make the most of my weekends and an occasional, impromptu weekday off since it’s the Summertime and there’s a lot I want to do this year! First things first? Getting some fresh strawberries at my local farm stand so I could make shortcakes and smoothies to enjoy in the sunshine – and the berries were divine!

This past Monday served as a long weekend for me since I had plans in the evening that required a little bit of driving to get to, and I didn’t want to be late. I ended up taking the full day off, and started the morning bright and early with a quick drive down to Watch Hill Beach in Rhode Island with my mom and Oliver so that we could walk along the water, grab some coffee and croissants, check out the boats and the early blooms of our favorite seasonal flower – the blue hydrangeas! They should be at their biggest and brightest by the end of the month and into early July, so we’ll have to head back to see them again.

The weather was perfect, which made for a beautiful morning – and it thankfully extended well into the afternoon and early evening hours – so when I headed up to Rye, New Hampshire later on in the day for my first Book Club meeting of the Summer at Kook’s, I was in the best mood.

I had an incredible time discussing ‘Wild Dark Shore’ and meeting new people while sipping on themed cocktails, enjoying snacks and marveling at floral arrangements that were curated specifically for the evening. I made new friends, laughed a lot, and got to vote on the next book to read for our planned meeting in July. I’m excited to scoop up a copy a little later on this week and start diving in since the premise I’d seen for it sounded fantastic.

I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone again in a few weeks to unpack it all!

And now that Troy has officially moved back to Massachusetts, something tells me that my Summer is going to be filled with lots of surprises and even more adventures. My very own floral arrangement was waiting for me on my kitchen table when I arrived home last night after work, and I can’t stop staring at it. It’s so lovely!

See you all again on Friday!
