Local Loves: Otto Pizza

This past Sunday, when I found myself in Connecticut for an impromptu adventure, including a riverside hike and a tour of a quirky castle (I’ll get into that within the next couple of days because it was honestly so unexpected and amazing!), I had been winding through the small, picturesque town of Chester on my way home – the first time I’d been able to stop by since the Summer of 2024! – and was feeling a little hungry and more than a little dehydrated since it was so unbelievably hot out.

I’d been in the mood for pizza for most of the weekend, which worked out in my favor, since Chester is the home to one of my favorite woodfired, thin-crust pizza spots in all of Connecticut (and maybe all of New England in general!)Otto Pizza.

Now, there is a chain in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, also called OTTO – but the one in Chester has no relation to any of them. It is it’s own thing, which makes me love it all the more. They have an extensive menu of pizzas, pastas, salads and deserts that are all made with locally sourced ingredients, and any of their white pizza selections are worth the drive to get to.

I miraculously managed to grab two take-out pizzas during a quiet moment within their Main Street storefront on Sunday afternoon, bringing them over state lines to my mother’s house as a surprise late lunch, and she was just as big a fan as I am. Everything just tastes so fresh!

I’ll likely be back in Connecticut within the next couple of weeks in preparation for some early Summer plans I’ve got lined up, so I’m looking forward to stopping by Otto again for another helping of their simple white pizza (my favorite on the menu!)

But I’m also open to trying something new. We’ll just have to wait and see!
