Gardens and Girls Days…

One of the things I most look forward to, regardless of the season or the weather, are the days I get to spend with the women in my life. I consider myself so blessed to have such a strong. supportive, and diverse group of ladies from so many different walks of life in both my friend circle and in my family. Being able to grow with them, learn from them, laugh with them and share experiences with them has enriched me in so many profound ways.

So this past weekend, when my cousin Paige reached out to me to see if I wanted to spend a day together with her and my mother – I jumped at the chance since I hadn’t seen either one of them in a few weeks and knew we had some catching up to do when it came to Paige’s career as a Doctor, my mother’s ongoing restoration of my childhood home, and my sharing my recent travel adventures with Troy.

We met at one of my mom’s favorite places – and a place I’ve written about here on ‘Coffee & Chiffon‘ before! – Russell’s Garden Center in Wayland, Massachusetts. Since it’s officially Springtime, we decided it was time for us to stock up on some flowers and plants for both our homes and yards to kick off the season the right way – and Russell’s always has the best selection.

I was so happy to see Hydrangeas in bloom (one of my favorites!) and so much cute Easter and Spring dΓ©cor available – and I ultimately bought myself a tropical palm that, amazingly, is still thriving in the not-all-that-tropical-climate of my apartment, as well as a couple of little trinkets just for fun.

Afterwards, we headed to nearby Sudbury, Massachusetts to grab lunch at the historic Wayside Inn. I haven’t been by the area in what felt like ages, but it’s just as beautiful as ever now that the trees and flowers are starting to bloom around the grounds. We’d made sure to stop and check out the antique barn shop directly across the street from the Inn, which had a number of beautiful wreathes and floral arrangements for sale.

And of course, lunch was amazing! While Paige and I ate our combined body weight in baked scallops and butternut squash, my mom enjoyed prime rib and warm apple pie while we sat by the huge fireplace in the dining room. It was the perfect way to wrap up a perfect afternoon!

With Paige’s birthday approaching in May, we’re looking ahead at ways we can celebrate both her and Mother’s Day together in the coming weeks. I’ve got a few ideas – most of which will take us to places like Newport or Boston – but we’ll see where we land when the times comes!

Next week, I’ll have another recipe to share, some more photos of a beautiful hike to a majestic location I recently went on, a recap of Easter, and a glimpse into my current makeup collection for the Spring.

Until then – enjoy your weekend!
