I had wanted to share some photos and recap from this past Friday night a little earlier this week, but the news and stories that unfolded over the weekend – the shooting at Brown University, the massacre at Bondi Beach, and the horrible news of what had been done to the legendary Rob Reiner and his wife – all of that coupled with learning of a death in my own family and the general frenzy of the holidays left me feeling burnt out and in need of a couple of days of being unplugged for a brief mental health break.
Please let this be a reminder to any and all of you that you are allowed those breaks whenever they’re needed and for as long as you need them. You have to take care of yourself – emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually – depending on your beliefs, of course.
And when speaking of spirituality, I do so much want to talk about my Friday night when Dan and I ventured down to Mystic, Connecticut to grab dinner, take in the absolutely stunning holiday displays in their downtown area, and participate in a final ghost tour of 2025 courtesy of US Ghost Adventures. Some of you may recall previous tours we’d gone on in Boston and Salem earlier this year – and I was so excited to learn they had a tour in Mystic, too!
Our guide, Riley, was wonderful, and gave us a fascinating tour through downtown and along the waterfront – telling us about the cries of widowed sailors’ wives that you can still hear to this day within The Port of Call, the disgruntled ghost of the former owner of Mystic Pizza who cleans up the kitchen long after the place is closed for the night, and even the local library’s cat spirit that wanders the aisles – and so much more!
And when locals stopped us along our journey to tell us their own paranormal experiences throughout their lives in town – it only added to the fun of it all!
As always, I had such a great time and cannot thank US Ghost Adventures enough for the invitation and opportunity to explore one of my favorite communities in an entirely new way. I hope I get to experience more of their tours around New England in 2026! Definitely check them out if you’re traveling soon, because they offer tours all over the country!
Plus, a special shout-out to Mystic Pizza for their fried meatballs and to Drawbridge Ice Cream for the decadent and delicious hot chocolate I grabbed at the end of the night. It was the perfect sweet treat to end what was already a really, really fun night out.
And thank you to Dan Little for capturing so many magical moments (and maybe some otherworldly things if you look at the photos long enough!)
