Playing with Pine and Snowy Strolls…

I’ve had such a beautiful, snowy and festive weekend these past couple of days, spent in the company of my mother and then with some of my friends in-between getting some more holiday shopping done and preparing to send out my Christmas cards a little later on this week now that they’ve been carefully designed and ordered!

On Saturday, for example, I brought my mom out to my beloved and cherished Stockbridge, Massachusetts for a wreath making class I’d signed us up for with Township Four located within The Red Lion Inn. The class, which utilized all natural, local-sourced greenery and materials, was a blast – and learning how to effortlessly wire in pine needles, leaves and berries within a bright, beautiful (and real!) wreath was a challenge I enjoyed taking on.

Our wreaths came out lovely after some trial and error (and helpful guidance by the teachers!) – and have since found homes on our respective front doors once we’d packed them up when we were all done.

Afterwards, we took some time to look at the stunning décor around the inn – including their insanely detailed gingerbread house in their dining room! – before grabbing coffee, sweets and doing some window shopping while strolling Main Street for a while.

On the way back to my mother’s house to drop her off, I cut through East Longmeadow so that I could introduce her to Pete’s Sweets, as well. I’d last written about the bakery in October – and he’s now creating adorable desserts and novelty snacks based around the theme of old fashioned family Christmases – including gingerbread cupcakes, Grinch cookies, and Aunt Bethany’s lime Jell-O mold from ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ (complete with “cat food” cereal!) I had to buy one. I couldn’t resist.

We grabbed some more cupcakes for the road, and were each allowed to pick a copy of a recipe that Pete wrote down from his grandmother’s collection – and we’re going to be giving them a try soon!

My Sunday was just as merry and bright – but I’ll be sharing that recap and plenty of photos a little later on this week since I’m still going through them all!

Enjoy the start to your week, everyone!
