Last Minute Spooky Stuff…

With October winding down this week and Halloween happening this coming Friday (and I’m not ready for it to be over yet!) the past few days have been spent making sure I’ve got all of the spooky necessities to get me through the remaining horror movie binges I’ve got lined up and that both my decorations are in place and that I have enough candy to pass out to trick-or-treaters when I visit my mom’s house for pizza and a screening of the original ‘Halloween’ – as is tradition!

Some years, she gets absolutely overwhelmed with hundreds of kids visiting her neighborhood and other years, it’s eerily quiet in her cul-de-sac and I go home with plenty of full-sized candy bars to get me through the holiday season – so we always stock up just in case. We never know which way it’s going to go.

I’ve also been preparing some treat bags for my friends’ kids when they come by to visit and show off their costumes this year, and to complete them with some of the cutest cookies and cupcakes around – I recently visited Pete’s Sweets in East Longmeadow since they’re doing a ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ theme through the end of the month. While the bakery is decorated so cool and on-point for the promotion, the sweets themselves are almost too cute to eat (almost! I definitely ate some!)

I was absolutely floored when I saw the Oogie Boogie cupcakes, as well as sugar cookies made to look like the killer Christmas wreath (which is my second favorite character after the gigantic orange snake that swallows a Christmas tree!) I grabbed so many goodies and I can’t wait to see the looks on the kids’ faces when they open them in a couple of days.

A little later on this week, I’m going to be sharing some of my favorite things from this past month before I give October a proper send-off and a full recap on Halloween morning before the parties officially begin!

See you all then!
