Phantoms By Firelight…

When making plans throughout this month, and specifically deciding on spooky and unique experiences to share with my friends and loved ones, the topic of the annual Halloween festivities at Old Sturbridge Village came up in conversation.

I had last visited OSV back in the Fall of 2022 where I had walked around and was overwhelmed by the absolutely gorgeous foliage during the daytime, but hadn’t stayed late enough for their after-dark attractions. So, with the opportunity presenting itself this past Sunday night – I jumped at the chance to check it out with Stef – who was just as excited as I was to go!

This fall marks the last year of what has been the ongoing Halloween theme, “Phantoms By Firelight“, which sees the Colonial settlement overrun by a traveling vampire circus. There’s aerial artists, acrobats, musicians, magicians, firebreathers, storytellers and so much more spread out across the entirety of the village – along with refreshments, games, trivia, and some interesting (and morbid!) history lessons along the way, too. It is a popular educational destination, after all!

I had such a complete and total blast roaming the settlement and marveling at the performers and the décor. Everything was so well done and so beautifully executed that I don’t know how it could possibly be topped next year when OSV unveils their next ‘Spooky Season’ theme!

And while there are a few areas that deal with more mature subject matter, like showing how a Colonial wake was performed or how coffins were built – the event overall is very much safe for younger kids to attend. If you get the chance to check this one out – I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend it!

And I’ll be uploading some video of the performers later on today over on MY INSTAGRAM if you want to check it out!

I’m really thinking of checking out their Christmas displays this year, too!
