Try as I might to continue to hang onto all things Summer for as long as possible, there’s been a chill in the air in the early mornings, a few of the leaves have already started to shift their color palette in small but still noticeable ways, and the surefire signs of Autumn’s impending arrival have been impossible to avoid. We may still have a few eighty-degree days ahead of us, but there’s no denying that Fall is on it’s way soon!
One of those signs that we are heading into the final chapter of the Summer season is the abundance of all things sunflowers. This past weekend, for example, was Red Apple Farm’s annual sunflower festival when their fields are at peak bloom. I stopped by with Dan to check out their set-up this year, which included a farmer’s market and arts & crafts vendors where I found a gift for my mom and a refreshing slushie for myself to beat the heat.
While there, we stumbled on the farm’s pumpkin patch and saw what looked like the most perfect pumpkin ever – just ready to pick – and I had to remind myself that it’s still only August and far too early to give into my “Halloween Queen” instincts!
From there, Dan and I quickly shifted back into Summertime mode as a means to correct ourselves. We stopped at Bistro Box for some watermelon lemonade and burgers, grabbed dairy-free Dole Whips in Great Barrington, and even stopped by the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge to hang out by their pool, discuss some of my upcoming travel plans, and drink in their cute Summer aesthetic before grabbing an actual drink to close out the day.
While Fall still tends to call to me like a Siren’s Song – I have a few more things lined up in August to do before I start stocking up on all things pumpkin spice and apple cider-flavored!
For example, this coming Wednesday – I’m preparing a peach cobbler-inspired recipe to share that has been a big hit during recent cookouts and get-togethers with friends!
Stay tuned!
