Local Loves: Cuffy’s

A little known fact for anyone who lives outside of Massachusetts is that regardless of where you reside in the state, you must own no less than three Cape Cod sweatshirts at any given time. It’s 10000% true, and while I don’t make the rules – I do follow them without question!

All joking aside, the popular pullovers typically seen on pretty much everyone during cooler beach nights or lazy Sunday mornings on Main Street in Hyannis typically come from one place – Cuffy’s – an emporium for all things Cape Cod printed, including clothing, accessories, dΓ©cor and gifts.

The girls and I stopped by last weekend during our planned getaway to stock up on some buttery soft sweatshirts and leggings during Tax Free Weekend. It was my first time visiting the revamped location in West Dennis since they expanded the shop to make it bigger and brighter.

From the outside, the strip of buildings that comprise Cuffy’s look like a series of old fashioned shops – including a candy store, general store, bakery, etc. However, once inside – you quickly realize it’s all one gigantic emporium that is connected. While there are different sections designated for specific items – like penny candy, men’s wear, home decorating and so on – you don’t have to go outside and walk over to different stores to get to them as the exterior of the building may lead you to believe.

I remarked to the girls that the location gave me Main Street in Disneyland vibes, which isn’t a bad thing! It was super cute and despite how crowded it got at times, I had no difficulty navigating to the sections I wanted to shop in. Everything was clean and tidy, and organized in a really eye-catching way. I stopped to look at so many things based on how they were assembled on the shelves and end-caps!

I found plenty of gifts for my family (and a sage green Cape Cod pullover for myself!) and have already promised my mother I would bring her there as soon as my schedule allows so she can buy some things for her home, as well.

And sure, Cuffy’s might be considered a little “touristy” for the locals, but I have yet to find a better or more cozy sweatshirt than the ones they make. They’re famous for a reason. It’s well-deserved popularity! The emporium is definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and looking for some one-stop shopping. The girls and I spent a long time in there, and enjoyed every minute of it!

Next week, I’ll be sharing a dip recipe to commemorate these last weeks of Summer, a look back at some recent adventures, and another peek into my closet before I have to pack up to head to the desert in a couple of weeks!
