Regardless of temperamental and unpredictable weather here in New England, I’ve wasted no time in hitting the ground running once June kicked off, beginning the tradition of visiting some of my favorite local seasonal spots and indulging in some of my favorite Summertime delicacies over the past few days/couple of weeks.
One of the very first stops I made almost immediately upon my return from Italy was to my beloved Kooks in Rye, New Hampshire – which opened for the season while I was abroad. I’ve written about them pretty much every Summer since I created ‘Coffee & Chiffon‘, and for good reason – their staff are so incredibly fun, their food and drinks are so incredibly delicious, and their décor makes me want to start living my best “Surfer Girl” life somewhere warm and perpetually tropical. They are the personification of a fun and carefree Summer!

I’ve been back a couple of times in recent weeks because I run solely on their street corn and chicken tacos this time of year!
And although a recent trip to Newport, Rhode Island was a bit of a bust due to an influx of Memorial Day travelers/visitors – not all was lost – since Summer means I can still get a Del’s frozen lemonade pretty much anywhere in the Ocean State from now through the Fall!

Finally, when it came to getting my fix of oysters to start the season off the right way, I had recently shared a snippet of a late lunch/early dinner I’d had with Dan over at the Amherst Oyster Bar. While the focal point of that post had been the outfit I’d worn, the great food, service and atmosphere are definitely worth mentioning, too! This place reminds me of being down at the Cape with all the blue, white, and gold color schemes they had throughout the dining area and exterior – which is sort of the unofficial combination for a true East Coast Summer.
Their raw bar was seriously impressive, too – and I even got Dan to try a raw oyster for the first time! I’m happy to report he was a big fan!

I still need to get a lobster roll soon, and although I definitely have some favorite and time-honored places for that – I’m thinking I might try a new location for one to continue my kick-off of Summer 2025. I have some trips planned to the Cape and Maine soon, after all!
Expect lots of pictures when I do!
