The Easter Weekend Round-Up…

With Monday being a Massachusetts-centric holiday and also Troy’s last full day here in the Pioneer Valley before he returns to work on the West Coast (although we’re reuniting in Milan, Italy in exactly two weeks – and I still can’t believe it’s happening!) I thought I would take the day off from anything and everything other than work and spending time with him before his departing flight, and saved the weekend/Easter recap I’d had originally planned to publish on Monday morning for today, instead.

I love that whenever Troy visits me and the area, we have our handful of “must go” spots to dine and drink – like Antonio’s Pizza in Amherst, Fitzwilly’s in Northampton, and Gigantic in Easthampton – but every once in a while we like to mix it up a bit and visit or participate in something sporadic or off our beaten path.

For example, on Saturday, we headed out to Stockbridge to check out the Daffodil & Tulip Festival at Naumkeag. Some of you may remember that the last time we’d visited the sprawling estate, it had been at last year’s Jack-O-Lantern Display and that it had completely wowed us through and through! This time, we got to roam the beautiful grounds and property during daylight hours and take in both the sunshine and all of the blooming flowers and Spring-inspired décor. I was even able to purchase some freshly picked daffodils for my mother and Aunt since I’d be seeing them the following day for Easter!

After taking in the splendor of it all, Troy and I made our way back into town for a quick stop at Red Lion Inn for some shopping, and at The Lost Lamb for a couple of sandwiches and a mid-afternoon caffeine fix before we visited with Troy’s family in nearby Lee, Massachusetts.

Easter, as it always is, was a fun and small family affair at my mom’s house where we were joined by my aunt, uncle, cousin, my precious little Oliver – and Troy, of course. Despite just a handful of us being there, my mom made her usual meal and extensive dessert selections that could feed a small army – although none of us complained! Everything was delicious!

Troy flew back to Nevada yesterday morning to tend to some last minute work obligations, although the usual heartache of him leaving wasn’t as significant this time since we’re getting ready for our soon-to-be Italian getaway and are putting the final touches on our respective “To-Do” lists before we go! I’m so excited, and nervous, and awe-struck all at once!

A little later on this week, I’m going to be sharing a newer piece of my “East Coast Summer” wardrobe collection that I first debuted at Easter, and will definitely be coming along with me to Milan since it’s very comfortable and yet very sophisticated!
