The temperatures have been pleasantly higher here in New England these past few days, resulting in most of the accumulated snow and ice from both January and February finally beginning to melt away (revealing the pavement and a LOT of potholes in the roads) and myself starting to brave the outdoors with less layers than I’ve needed in what feels like forever.
While this could just be another “False Spring”, and the mother of all Nor’easters could be right around the corner any day now – it’s nice to feel optimistic and begin the process of mentally packing away all of my Winter clothes and accessories for another year. I won’t do it until either April or May, of course – but a girl can dream!
Helping me feel a little more “Springy” this week was a recent stop at Smith College’s Botanical Garden for their annual Bulb Show – which I don’t believe I’d visited since 2023. While always impressive, this year was made even more so since the tending students incorporated some artwork throughout the greenhouses this time around – giving even more pops of color to an already gorgeous array of bright flowers and blooms.
And word must have got around about the more stunning-than-usual visuals this year, because the gardens were packed – the busiest I’ve ever seen them on a weekday! While it gave me plenty of time to snap photos and drink it all in, I ended up staying significantly longer than expected since it took me a while to go from section to section!
The show runs through March 16th this year, and if you plan on checking it out, I highly recommend getting there early and having a game plan of what you want to see. The greenhouses are a tight fit when there’s a lot of people – and it fills up quick – but it’s worth it if you’re in the area and you want a free preview of Springtime!
A little later on this week, I’m going to have a St. Patrick’s Day-approved recipe to share before I dive into a busy weekend in Boston filled with bad horror movies, (hopefully) good food, and a peek into my Springtime wardrobe – assuming the weather holds up!
